Change in bowel habits

I have had diverticulitis for years now, with my last attack almost four years ago now. I have been taking metamucil religously for years, but lately I have noticed that my BMs are smaller. Not having any trouble with them being too hard, just smaller and not really feeling as if I am done, but no more comes out, and am not going to strain, that's a big no no for me. I worry about this as I think the reason I have gone for so long since my last attack is my regimen and now this has me a bit worried. Am 65 so I guess that might be a factor. Anyone else experiencing this? thanks,JIm
