Change of medication brand...is it causing my symptoms?

Hi there

So I have been taking amitriptyline (25mg) for my IC for about 2 years now. I was initially prescribed a generic brand by my gp in the UK which was effective for a while, then it stopped working. I then tried a brand called Amirol, which immediately stopped the symptoms. I was then put back on the generic brand, and my symptoms came back right away.

I was then put back on Amirol, which was again very effective. Now I have been prescribed the original generic tablets again, and the symptoms have come back again. Incidentally, I also suffer with other symptoms including migraines and fatigue and I have been experiencing the same patterns with these symptoms also.

The only connection between my symptoms flaring up is the change of brand and I can't help but wonder if the generic brand is not working for me. Has anyone else had this experience? Can a simple change of brands have this effect? Am I just overthinking it? I have kept diaries and logs, and cannot find anything else that has been done differently except the change of meds.
