Changes in Appearance anyone?

Recently I look like a ghost. It started with dark circles around my eyes one morning and next my face became pale. I also lost weight, I was thin and now I got even thinner. My skin is wrinkled. I have red itchy little bumps on my face.

I am scared to look into the mirror. Anyone noticed any changes since getting sick?

    Hi Christine

Mono virus does all sorts of nasty things. I'm at 4 months amd have had the black circles around my eyes and pale skin it seems to be when my spleen is swollen and I'm not digesting my food properly. I've lost weight - 6kg, I'm already slim so loosing weight is bad for me. I seem more fatigued with the weight loss and I'm battling to eat more to get the weight back. It was recommended to take digestive enzymes with my meals and I have found that helpful. My fatigue and swollen glands flare up and drop off and thats the cycle I'm in right now until my body can fight it off more. Lots of rest, fresh foods and supplements. Hope this helps take care.

How do you know that your lymph nodes shrink? I also had time when my spleen felt swollen. But doctors check say everything looks OK.

I would like to try enzymes. I feel like I don’t digest food recently.

      Thank yoy

it’s funny I’m at the 8 month mark, loads better than I was but fatigue is awful, but mAnaging work, kids, Home etc but over the last few weeks I’ve developed quite a big bag on my right eye!! I wondered if coffee made it worse as I love fresh coffee and probably drink too much in the morning - so I’ve cut it out.

My appetite is healthy tho! Prob could do with loosing a few pound!

    Wishing everyone a speeding recovery

Heya, i have experienced similar symptoms. I have terrible dark circles and im also very pale. Since getting ill i have lost half a stone and only now after 8 months am i eating enough to gain a little, im very skinny and ribby. As for the bumps on your face, i personally havent experienced this but between winter and spring i do get red itchy dry skin on my face which is a bit bumpy so it could be the same thing.

Is it your eating that is causing you to lose weight? I have been unable to eat due to my stomach lining being inflamed from the GF and damaged from pain killers. I have now been taking omeprazole for 3 weeks and the difference is amazing, i dont feel sick every time i eat and i have so much more energy.

    Hope this helpssmile

Hey Maisie , I was just reading your reply about an inflammed stomach and it sounds so similar to what I’ve been experiencing! Every time I eat I feel sick after. Did you experience stomach pain along with this?

You are probably right that cold weather can be the cause of red blotches on the face. I live in Canada so it makes sense.

I cut down bread and fairy and sugar. And my stomach is not in the best shape. I have pains recently and don’t digest food properly.

I developed the black circles under eyes inly 9 months after getting sick. Now it’s been a year since I got sick. It feels forever

      Thank you

Yes i had stomach pain like severe indigestion, just really bad burning. I would recommend going to the doctors and making a fuss. I have been taking omeprazole twice a day for three weeks and the difference is amazing! I have gone from eating so little and having to lie down for an hour after to actually feeling hungry! First time in months. My nausea has pretty much gone and my energy levels have improved, not perfect but a huge difference in just 3 weeks. Eating has been a huge turn around for my recovery. Hope this helps yousmile best of luck getting better

I would recommend keeping your diet as simple as possible then, cutting out sugar is a very good idea. Chamomile tea is good for soothing your gut and look up foods that feed the bacteria in your gut. If you get idigestion like me taking antiacids before and after eating will help. I had liquid gaviscon, i dont know if you get that in canada but you could see if it helps ( it doesnt taste great though hahaha)

Sorting out my rummy has been a real turning point in my recoverysmile

Oh goodness Christine poor you what a terrible time you have been through. I remember looking at myself during the virus too and looking so white and gaunt too (well I'm fair skinned anyway but even more so than normal). Sometimes finding the right vitamins can help with the weight management, amino acids can be good I think in just keeping you at a healthy level, remember though I'm no expert just going on my own experience.

Really hoping things improve soon Christine you deserve it so much - there is hope and recovery on the way I still believe that.

Thank you Craig. It’s been a year for me. Each time I forget to ask you if you still experience any synptoms?

      Hi Christine,

It's been over 10 years for me now, a long time ago but I still remember the slog of going through it and how hard it was. And yes thankfully God blessed me and helped me to get better from it, I'm grateful for that - and I believe that you are going to get fully better too. Sometimes colds and things maybe hit a bit harder than before but it's nothing too bad at all and once recovery is there you can enjoy life again and live freely and happily like you used to.

      Craig
