Changing from 40mg to 60mg of Fluoxetine (Prozac)

Does anyone recall any further side effects from upping the dosage?

40mg has worked for me for years but recently I have noticed me slightly regressing back to an anxious mess. The past two weeks have been horrible and I have been putting off increasing my dosage because of a past experience.

I started on 20mg and increased after a year and spent a week literally in bed ridden with severe anxiety. Hence the reluctance to increase again.

Any thoughts on increasing the dosage, the time it takes to see a difference?

Hi JM1719, I'm sorry you are struggling with this, I've heard from my doctors this can be a fairly common issue with medication. I experienced the same thing with a different medication (amitriptyline) where it heightened my anxiety to max level and I was having panic attacks about 2 hours after taking the medication. It was hard to decipher if it was MY anxiety or actually the medication. The psychiatrist said that sometimes medication can be too much at a certain dose for someone's body and they ended up backing me down to a lower dose that my body tolerated better or suggested a different medication. I think its also important to note to combine medication with some kind of therapy, whatever that therapy may be for you.
