I have been involved in chats too, usually by accident!

I have never used the chat facility. How do you link up with a person to chat? How does it work?

I'd have to say yes but sometimes it takes awhile... You know busy lives and stuff. Do you have anything you want to talk about?

Like George I don't know how to chat, can you explain it please?

Sorry! I have misunderstood.  You mean live chat.  No. I have not been involved in that on here.  Didn't know it was possible.

That is disappointing. So one is left with Google , Yahoo etc. Not too annonimous especially if you want to talk about health issues. It's fine if you want to talk about the weather and how many eggs you ate for breakfast. Plenty of scope for that but I am not at all interested in that sort of chat or in Tweeting for that matter.

There is the facility to private message.  I wasn't interested in tweeting until May last year when I realised it was an excellent way of finding out information often ignored by the national press and of spreading the word about issues often ignored by the national press.  In particular the hearing aid business was being talked about on Twitter long before the national press latched onto it.  Also, we can link up with people all over the world who have similar interests.  There is a private message feature on Twitter, too, so all does not need to be public.  There is no compulsion to be involved in inane chat.

      Dear Katheel,

That gives me a new take on Twitter etc. I can have another look at it. Thank you. The Private Message on this forum is very useful for passing links without wasting the moderator's time or anyone else's. I have also used it for slow conversations that are not of general interest.

George, Twitter is very good for making contact with companies who don't answer the phone!!

      Dear George,

Didn't realise links could be included in private messages.  I just put one in a reply to you but it has gone to the moderator.  So much to learn with this modern technology.

      Thank you Mrsmop

This is the only reason I have used Twitter. I am outraged at the atttude of the companies who only receive customer communication by Twitter etc.

I use FB and Twitter to share petitions and things, nothing else.

      Dear Kathleen,

Yes, I think the reason is that the links cannot be spammed by PMs as they are one to one.

Sadly photos cannot be sent by PMs. Only with discussion texts.

Thank you Georgia. I need to learn how to use these facilities for serious purposes. I thought they were really just for air-headed rubbish and indiscretions.

You have to sift the wheat from the chaff! lol There's a lot of useful stuff in there and things get done, campaigns etc.
