Chemical burn or Herpes?

I’ve recently  begun  having unprotected sex with a new partner whom I’m in a monogamous relationship with. After several encounters over the course of about 2 months I began to experience symptoms of a vaginal bacterial infection which I’m prone to and have gotten before as a result of any kind of penetration or sexual activity.  My body is pretty sensitive to sex and bacteria, so I’m prone to this type of infection normally categorized by pain during intercourse. I’m also prone to getting UTIS & yeast infections from sex with my partner. I always have one sexual partner at a time for an extended period.

(Note:  during this two month period, I had also been experiencing strange infections that alarmed me as well. Such as 2 terrible boils on my bum  presumably from shaving, sniffly nose flu/cold like symptoms, and a minor sore throat.)

Now I am normally able to treat this bacterial infection by applying water diluted apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil to infection site. Once or twice before, I even applied a few drops of straight tea tree oil undiluted  and it completely got rid of the infection. No burning or side effects. I know you’re not supposed to apply any undiluted essential oils to your vagina but I’ve never suffered any ill effects so I figured it was fine this time too.

Fast forward- I had been applying tea tree oil to my vagina for about 4 days. The BV persisted so I decided to up the self prescribed  dosage by applying several drops of tea tree oil to a tampon along with the Apple cider vinegar solution and a bit of turmeric  overnight, thinking it would permanently cure this pesky infection. Big mistake.

I woke up the next morning with an intense burning sensation but thought it would just go away after I showered. Boy... was I wrong. As soon as I dried myself off, I began experiencing the tingling, stinging and burning sensation again along with a bit of pain and discomfort. I took a look at my vagina and discovered I had red bruising  on one inner lip and on the bottom section of the opening. My skin had been completely damaged undoubtedly from the tea tree oil solution but I also noticed I had one white lesion on the bottom section of the opening of my vagina as well.

I immediately scheduled an appointment with my GYN and his immediate reaction was that he wanted to test me for Herpes even though I told him what I had done with the tea tree oil solution. I was shocked by this. I trust the person I’m currently with as he is very responsible, honest and open like me and he even offered to get tested with me the very next day. I’m almost positive if this thing is herpes I didn’t contract it from him. Unless he had no idea he had it. I had gotten tested a few months prior, and all my test came back negative. The only exposure to herpes I’ve ever had was with a previous short term boyfriend who got cold sores on his lip but was always totally honest with me when he could feel he was about to get one. Meaning we wouldn’t engage in any kissing or oral sex when he felt a cold sore coming on to avoid transmission of the infection. But perhaps he gave it to me at some point unknowingly even though he didn’t have any open or forming cold sores..is that possible?

I was tested for pretty much everything by my GYN but I’m really scared this could be something worse than the tea tree oil burning the crap out of my vagina. Sounds crazy, but This is one instance I’m praying I have chemical burns, not herpes! I’ve got until Friday or Monday to receive my results. If you have any advice or information please help.
