Cherries help fight inflamation

Posted , 12 users are following.

Today, I read that cherries can help fight inflamation.  And, that several studies have been done which have all proved that they do  Does anyone have any experience in this area?  I seem to be doing pretty well on the prednisone at 8mg and should reduce to 7 in the next  couple of weeks.  Just wondering if the natural route could help.

Hi Susan, that is correct, it is sour cherries that are supposed to be good, montmorency cherries are supposed to be the best. You can get them as juice but they do cost an arm and a leg. I have lashed out on a bottle though.  Also I believe you can get them dried too.

My dog ate some cherry pits that I had left in a bowl on a table, and it cost me $650.00 in emergency vet bills!

Montmorency cherries are grown in abundance in Michigan, my state. While a bottle may cost me $8, it is a concentrated syrup..  One dilutes an ounce with perhaps a cup of water, and the calories are around 100 or maybe 110.  It lasts well in the frig.

I would be interested in anti-inflammatory comparisons.

I am thinking of an anti-inflammatory hot drink of cherry syrup with hot water, cloves, cinnamon, and fresh ginger.  Might be  good!  And a name?  Mulled cherry?  The trouble is the when I mull wine, I usually have to add sugar, but I will try this without doing that.

You are lucky having Montmorency cherries in abundance. Mulled cherry sounds lovely, I just mix the juice with water, perhaps I should become more adventurous.
