Chest endo

Hi really hoping someone can help. I've had stage 4 recto-vaginal endometriosis which was removed in 2012. I've since gone on to have 2 two children and since having the first I've noticed a shortness  breath which has gradually got worse over the 3 years.

I have an almost constant soreness between my shoulders which feels muscular? Not sure it is though. I have a need to clear my throat/cough a lot.

I get pain in that area when I cough and sneeze and occasionally when I swallow. I get palpitations a lot, especially when bending and all heart tests have come back clear.  I have many other symptoms but focusing mainly on these at the moment as they're the most persistent.  Can anyone relate? Thank you.

Have you asked for lung tests?

No I haven't yet. I've been for every other test possible over the last 2 years and seen so many specialists. Not sure what to do next. What that give a clue to whether or not it is endo?

I asked about lung tests simply because the most obvious thing is that you've developed lung problems on their own, temporary or permanent.  They would start with just an xray.  If still having problems as soon as you get that report, start asking for further lung tests:  Pulmonary Function Tests or PFTs, also known as lung function tests.  See what that shows.  Do NOT close your eyes during PFT in order to try to concentrate.  Since you can't get thru the day with closed eyes if you have normal sight, to close your eyes during any test gives a false reading.  (I used to close my eyes during hearing tests before I realized the issue; my measured hearing dropped significantly with open eyes.)

Most docs would want to consider the very common possibilities of breathing problems long before they'd want to consider chest endo.  So get them to do that.

I hope they find something eminently curable.

Thanks for this. I'll go back to my GP as soon as I can get in and ask for a referral. I have the wait, always weeks or sometimes months.

I don't understand why I've not been tested actually, you would think that's an obvious thing to test. I'm getting lots of digestive issues too so probably not solely lung related but definitely worth checking out I'm sure.

I'm waiting to see a specialist for scoliosis too so will probably be given X-rays for that. Do you think they can do it all in one?

I'm not sure what you mean about doing it all in one, plus I'm in the States so systems function differently,,, and there's a wide variance in how they function here.

Docs don't order lung tests unless they hear or see something, or if the patient complains a lot about breathing issues.  They're just as human as we are and tend to look at things through the same prism we hand them to begin with.  If we say, "I'm having shortness of breath, coughing a lot" then they're apt to think lungs &/or heart.  If we say, "I think I've got endo in my chest" we send their minds elsewhere without mentioning the issues, which are the SOB, etc.  Does that make sense?

I'm curious to hear what a scoliosis specialist says about mild scoliosis.
