Chest infection

Hi, had severe chest pain last Thursday and again yesterday morning, lasted about an hour, dead in the middle over to the left slightly, no other symptoms, but now have a pain in the upper back, between bottom of shoulder blades. Went to GP who said she could hear crackles in my chest and she gave me some Antibiotics, my question is, would a chest or lung infection cause this pain, I have had a chest infection before and that was pain higher up in the front and across chest, the sort you feel when coughing which I don't have, it just hurts to breath in deeply.
