Chest pain and Hiatus Hernia?

Hi all. I'm looking some guidance. I was diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia 18 months ago following months of enduring reflux and its side effects. I was initially prescribed lanzoprazole but this had little to no effect so i'm now taking omperazole. This, up until now has been successful in controlling my symptoms.
However, in the past 3-4 weeks ive been experiencing an annoying dry cough and some quite painful chest pains. These pains are predominantly on my left side but radiate across my shoulders, up my neck and partially down my left arm. I've had x2 trips to my g.p who sent me for a chest xray which returned clear, i'm also going for an ECG tomorrow morning. My g.p assures me she is quite certain my chest pains aren't related to my heart but hasn't made any connection betwen my pains and my HH.
Please accept my apologies for the length of my post, but i'm quite concerned about the chest pains i'm experiencing. Any advice / guidance will be greatly recieved.
Thank you.

You have my sympathy with this matter. I have suffered with similar problems for over 2 years. Yesterday I went to the hospital for a Gastroscopy which showed that I had a Hiatus Hernia. I have suffered with acid reflux for quite a while and take Omprazonol. When the problems started I was having terrible chest pains and was sent for tests on my heart, this showed that I had mild Angina and was put on Atenolol, Asprin and Simavastin tablets. My problems have worsened over the past 6 months and I put this down to the reflux and Hiatus hernia, I have bad chest pains coupled with neck and throat pain also I have a terrible ache around my left kidney area. It was suggested by the gastro dept at the hospital yesterday that I be put on Nexium tablets. I have felt so unwell for over 2 years and wonder if I will ever feel better, my doctor feels that stress is causing a lot of the symptoms but I don't think he is right, I know the pain that I am in is real. I hope you realise that you are not alone.

Thanks for replying to my post. You poor thing, you really are going through the mill with things, I can empathise. I had the ECG today which was all clear, part of me is relieved as at least my heart is fine but i'm still none the wiser as to the cause of my chest pain.
My plan is to keep visiting the G.P. until I get some sense. My hope is that eventually she'll agree that is is my hernia (as so far she's ruled out pleurisy, chostochondritis and now any heart problems).
Hang on in there Centurion, things will get better.
Take care.
