chest pain and palpitations worrying me

Posted , 2 users are following.

I am an 18 year old, fit and healthy girl who has always participated in sports until I got injured last year. Since then i have suffered regular palpitations which my GP put down to anxiety, but they still worry me. The past few days i have also been having really bad back and chest pain, so much so that i went to a&e as i thought i was having a heart attack. The doctor said it was not heart related and that it could have been due to alcohol consumption and stomach acid? C

hi  Ameliaaaaa  sport injuries can be scary  dependent on the severity. and this can induce stress  resulting in all kinds of symptoms not least  digestive upsets  ,  palpitations  and muscle disturbances . your doc is probably right that  you are reacting to   a stressful condition and really only relaxing  about this issue will provide  resolution.  @18 you should recover very quicly from most trauma     and  only your attitude will prolong the condition.   Palpitations  are,as i understand it not dangerous unless over prolonged periods and associated with other symptoms.      basically  as i understand it  only a normal heart will  act in this way withoutlong term damage.    ,but if you are still concerned go back to the medic and seek reassurance    we in this forum are not qualified to give diagnosis  only  expressions of our own experiences  good luck     and stay cool

Thank you, i was meant to say also i went for a ecg having suffered chest pain and it came back clear.. Would one of those spot any possible problems??

if you had an ecg  ,its unlikely you have problems unless it was pointed out differently at the time     if you are still worried you can ask for a stress test under the bruges protocol which will definitively rule out any hithertoo  undiscovered condition.  i think  reading between the lines you should simply relax and give your body chance to improve..  in any event i wish you well,  and take care
