Chest pain at 15 and popping neck noise

Hi,

I’m 15 years old and I seem to have bad chest pain that spreads around the chest and goes up the neck. It feels like an aching pain, and seems to go through my throat too. It hurts when I breathe out and also when I swallow. I’m also not sure whether this is related to it, however when I breathe out there seems to be a slight popping noise, as if it is a bubble, at the bottom of my neck. The popping noise does not hurt, however the chest pain is quite severe. I am assuming it is an infection since I was also ill yesterday with vomiting however I just want to be sure. Thanks.

So sorry you are experiencing this- especially at such a young age!  My pneumothoraces were different than what you have described, but your description matches something I heard today at my doctor’s appointment exactly.

I had to see my pulmonologist today due to popped bleb.  He told me about his son, who had a bleb that popped when he was a teenager playing basketball. His lung did not collapse.  The air that escaped went upwards towards his throat instead- and he even mentioned the crackling noise. He also said that is son got very hoarse from it.

Good news is is that his son was treated properly and is now in his 20s and hasn’t had any more problems. So strange that he told me about this today and I see your post so soon afterwards!  If this is what you have, it is pretty rare and finding the right doctor might be difficult - but you might be lucky and have a fabulous doctor!  I have no idea where you are, and I am not asking.  But I will say that I am in upstate SC.  If you would have any need to talk with the pulmonologist I saw today, who described such a similar problem that his son had, I would be happy to put you in touch with him.

If if you or your parents would like further information about that doctor, please let me know and we can figure out a way to exchange the info by phone or email.  Maybe your doctor could call and consult with him.

I hope you will recover quickly and have no more problems.

Hello Sam, How are you feeling today?

I had these symptoms almost same as you. I'm 33 years old male since I had quit smoking on 04 April 2016, I started to develop chest sore after 2 weeks I had quit.

then I had seen my GP and specialist and also go for x-ray everything came out normal. My specialist gave me this medicine consume for 2 weeks after that everything has come back normal. But not for long, the pain came back a few months after. Until today I still have no idea what is wrong with my chest. Every time I twist it had clicking sound on my sternum. it has been almost 2 years I had this chronic chest sore. Sometimes the pain even reached my back, where I can feel sharp dull pain. My GP keeps saying there is nothing to worry about. I go for blood test everything came out to be normal...
