Chest pains for weeks now

I apologise if this is long, but I'm not quite sure where to start or when this started, but for the past month or so I've been getting this strange discomfort/pain in my chest. At first I thought nothing of it, because the discomfort just felt like that of what you'd get with an acid reflux situation..but it's just been getting worse and doesn't depend on when/what I'm eating/drinking.

I've been to my GP more times than I can count, for some reason they think it's linked to either anxiety(which i don't have) or my chronic tension-type headaches. I've been started on 10mg Amitriptyline for a month for the headaches, the GP thinks this will also help with the chest pain(?).

It's been nearly a week on this medication now and my chest just seems to be getting worse, I mean to the point where I can't sleep all I can do is just sit up and cry in pain.

It's sort of like a tightness/dull ache in my chest, and sometimes in my back, before and after the pain starts. When it's bad there's like a sharp stabbing pain down my sternum area and sometimes towards the lower left side of my ribs.

I don't know if this is of any relevance either but i stood up the other day from sitting on the floor and my vision went black, I sat down but felt like I was going to pass out if I didn't. I have no idea if anyone could help?

Sorry this is happening. Can you recreate the pain? Like make it worse by pressing on it? Is it worse during daily activities like cleaning, laundry, etc? Any shortness of breath? Breath holding? Shallow breaths? How long has this been happening? How old are you?

The pain doesn't seem to get worse by pressing on it. It's worse at night before I go to bed and in the morning's when I've just woken up, during the day it gets a lot easier to deal with and it doesn't get worse depending on what I do. I don't really get shortness of breath, or I haven't really picked up on it. My breathing doesn't really seem to be affected! It's been happening for probably just over a month, except it's been getting worse the past few weeks. I'm only 20 years old

Good morning. Its scary when pains occur apparently with no cause, but somewhere along the line damage has been done, ergo, pain and discomfort. So, you have to ask yourself, what was I doing differently to promote the onset of this condition, ie did I fall and damage ribs? Did I strenuously exercise and damage muscle or tendon? Am I eating something different that doesn't agree with me? Is my posture being effected by my work station? If none of these apply then look at more troubling problems like pleurisy, (possibly indicated by the stabbing pain) in this case you should trust the findings of your GP particularly if you have undergone batteries of tests to dismiss this kind of thing. Personally, I do the when and how test and the why usually follows. In any event, I wish you a speedy resolution to what befalls you

Check a cardiologist and neurologist. Just to exclude certain conditions.

As I'm only 26 mother wife and stay at home mom about 5-7 months ago I had what they called a panic attack of course I had chest pains and for a few months I went threw a depression and anxiety I now feel back to my old self minus I have this stabbing like dull ach right sided chest discomfort as well I also have discomfort in my back 247 from what every doctor I have seen has blamed it on anxiety witch I was seen by a professional and was told I do not have anxiety so they then tested my thyroid levels are great then they did and ultrasound ! Found out I have a large thyroid and two koduls ! So that can severely mess with you and give you anxiety or and physical pain with no cause I also have very horrible vison all of the sudden I would say I have like a vertigo but my main complaint is my chest 247 also worse at night and in the mornings I hope you find answers I'm having an ultrasound of my gallbladder this Sunday to see if that could cause it !
