Chest/Rib/Lung pain

I am 24 and have been suffering with pains in my chest area for the last 4 months. The pain varies, but the most persistant pain I have had is a sharp, shooting pain in the left hand side of my rib cage (below my breasts). The pain worsens when I move or breath, to the point were I can no longer sit up from a lying possition (I'm generally quite fit, but to be able to get out of bed i have to roll over and pull myself up!). Other pains include a dull pain in the centre of my chest, which is more prominant when I take a deep breath, and also in my left shoulder, but this comes and goes. I went to the GP about 6 weeks ago, despite my debates she fobbed me off by saying that I needed to get a better fitted bra, which was ridiculous! Since my visit, the pains dissappeared for about 2 weeks so i thought it must have been muscular damage. However it's since come back and its unbearable. I'm planning another trip to the GP to see a different doctor but was wonering if anyone else has anyone else ever experienced something like this? Thanks in advance.

Did you ever get an answer on this? I get the exact same pains, i have for years, such a sharp pain at the heart area, and with any breathing it brings the pain on more, so I take small short breathes till the pain goes away....very scary sometimes. I do however have a heart condition though, I take nadolol 40 mg/day for a mitral valve prolapse...Anyway if you got any answers on this please let me know
