Hello

I have been having chest tightness / pain and I'm scared it's my heart. I'm a 37 year old female who suffers with anxiety most of my life. I have had ecg's, stress test's and echocardiogram and wore a heart monitor. I keep thinking it's my heart. Actually I'm convinced it's my heart. Please help. What are the chances it is even with the test I have done smile?????

You have more chance of winning the lottery. Seriously if the cardiac tests are OK it is either caused by digestive issues or as you say anxiety or side effects of any anxiety meds.

If I may add my 2 cents.... If you've been under stress and anxiety for most of your life chances are good you have vitamin and mineral deficiencies.  These deficiencies can cause muscle tightness and pains you've been experiencing.  The biggest impact of stress causes magnesium and B vitamins to be depleted.  Mag. especially can cause muscle tightness as it is a natural muscle relaxer.  I have been where you are now so I know from experience how scary it can be.  My suggestion would be to research all the different forms of Magnesium supplements, and they come in oral as well as topical lotions. I would suggest getting both kinds which will bring your Mag level up faster.  And B-complex can be found at any drugstore or grocerty store.  You can also try relaxation techniques like meditation or you could find all kinds of relaxation videos on YouTube.  Better to address the symptoms now before they progress to something more serious.  I know from working more than 30 yrs in the healthcare business how stress can affect your body.  Good luck to you and I hope you are able to find relief very soon.

Mary ann  - My husband has major heart failure, very very ill, 6 years ago not expected to survive, letter to GP tells him less than 30 days.

Every six months the heart hospital does, ECG, and echocardiograms, the results of those allowing for a 10% operator variable on echo, the specialist tells us weather he is getting better or worse.

I have learn't to read the echo over the operator's shoulder and even I can tell if the results are good or not so good, but I have not been formally trained  in any way.

If you have had all the tests you describe and they are clear it is highly unlikely you have a heart condition, as another suggested winning the lottery rare at your age.

Husband 59 when diagnosed, condition came on very suddenly, over a couple of weeks, shortness of breathe, and couldn;t walk up a flight of stairs whithout getting dizzy.

Then collapsed at home, very sleepy, appeared to be dropping in and out, did not answer me when I asked him questions, sitting in lounge chair, could not stay awake, mid afternoon, sweating up a storm, looked as though he had just walked out of a shower, T shirt he was wearing was soaking in a few minutes.

I did not understand what was going on so rang for an ambulance, they took his ECG and told me they were transporting him to the hospital, he was very lucky, he had congestive heart failure the day he was taken to the hospital, lungs full of fluid, medication given to him made him pee, three bottles later, I was the one passing him these bottles, admited to the ICU heart unit.

Cause of his condition unknown, probably a virus I have been told.

He has dialated cardiomyopathy, with a left branch bundle blockage that has advanced to a right branch bundle blockage, and then 100% branch bundle block,

1 year ago they installed a three lead pacemaker that makes his heart beat.  This last week he has mowed our road verge as well as the neighbours, weeded, planted about 20 plants we have grown on from cuttings, picked up three mini trailers of hourse manure on our five acre block, used for our gardens after composting.

An energizer bunny unable to kill I'm afraid.

thank you lyn.  So they test i have had done would show if there was anything wrong with my heart??  I get tightness alot and pain which scares me.  I am 37 years old female also. It travels to my back.

Yes the tests you have had done would definately show if you have any probelms with your heart.  Its got to be something else.

Do you have reflux or acid taste in the back of your throat, especailly after curry meal, or a very fatty meal, that can cause pain.

Also I think about a disc in your back, pinching a nerve, the pain can radiate out and around your body, feeling of tightness, a very good osteopath, you will have to investigate who are the good ones in your area, I use an osteopath as does my family rather than an chiropracter, but much the one and same, an adjustment of your spine.

Anxiety is a terrible condtion to have, my son-in-law suffers, he gets regular help from a physcholist, counselling, will probabaly have to get this help for the rest of his life, also takes tablets that tone down his reactions, took a long while to find the right mix of medications, some make him to sleepy to even function.

He holds down a regular job as a storeman, his employer has be very good to him and held his job for him as they also have family members with anxiety and dooo understand.
