Chest/upper back pain related to sertraline?

hi there!

ive been taking sertraline for 8 weeks but at 4 weeks in i started with upper back pain, between shoulder blades and also in the chest.. its pretty much constant but it doesn't disturb my sleep..

ive wondered if its costochondritis, (inflammation of ribcage cartlage where ribs join the sternum )

ive tried taking gaviscon in case its indigestion..

its starting to get me down but i can't face going to the GP as i have health anxiety and feel they won't take me seriously..

i just wondered if anyone had a similar experience?

many thanks

i had exactly the same and a lot of muscle and joint pain

it is most likely heartburn or gas as mine went away when i was prescribed tablets for gas/indegestion

chest and back pain are side effects and it does go away!

ive been on 50mg since september

i had every side effect i think!

Hi! thank you for your reply thats really helpful!

yes i had horrible side effects for the first couple of weeks, feeling anxious and agitated, i had no appetite and had to force myself to eat.. but would it be possible for this to start at the 4 week point? and be like it everyday? i hope it is the sertraline causing it then at least i know what it is!

ill join the fb group! thank you for the recommendation! x
