Chia Seeds for constipation.

Hi all, does anyone use Chia Seeds ?, Chia Seeds could be very beneficial if you suffer constipation and bloating, 1 tablespoon of chia seeds contains about 4 grams of fibre mostly soluble fibre from what I've read at a ratio of 4 to 1 soluble to insoluble fibre, I soak my Chia seeds in a glass of water, 1 tablespoon full to a glass of water soak for about an hour, you could add some juice for taste, stir well, I've worked my way up to 5 or 6 tablespoon per day and definitely gets rid of the constipation and bloating for me.

Hi, Chia Seeds are fantastic, Chia seeds come from the plant Salvia Hispanica a member of the mint family, they are packed with fibre plus many other nutriants, they're great for constipation and bloating etc, each seed holds anout 10 times it's size in water, you need to soak them 1 tablespoon full in a glass of water for about an hour they go sort of glutinous stir well and drink. you can add juice for taste. you can get them at most supermarkets health shops.

Hi, Chia seeds also contain large amounts of tryptophan an amino acid, tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin and serotonin is converted to melatonin at night, melatonin the sleep hormone, I've read serotonin plays a big roll in gut health.

I've been using a mixture of chia and flax seed.  I mix it into yogurt, sometimes probiotic yogurt.  I have not noticed much of a difference.

Flax seeds have not stopped me getting ill but I like to think they stop me being ill so often but difficult to measure.

    Let me know your thoughts

Hi, I have tried flaxseed but they gave me digestive issue's, Chia seeds seem to work great, but they need to be soaked, they take up a huge amount of water etc, I soak about 1 tablespoon full in a glass of water, I add an hydration tablet for taste but you can add orange juice etc, I soak Chia seeds for about an hour upwards, they go like glutinous, I have a redundant colon which gives me slow transit, a redundant colon is longer than normal with more twists and turns, but Chia seeds definitely speeds things up, and with no bloating, I reckon Chia seeds are something special, they are full of fibre, high in amino acid tryptophan which is good for your mood and sleep, they have a great history do chia seeds with Aztecs and Mayans, lots of info online about them, they're a true superfood with seemingly no downside, I've got up to having about 5 or 6 tablespoons per day, WELL SOAK.

I had to visit the doc on yet another health matter and asked about why flax was better for me and the answer is I have ridiculously high blood pressure and flaxseed is better for bringing your blood pressure down but saying that it does not really work for me as I weigh in around 177 which Is comatosed or something like that but what can you do. Eating the right foods for my blood pressure conflicts with what I should eat for IBS. I can't win. Think Heller and Catch 22.

Chia seeds are good for you I sprinkle them on my cornflakes but I sometimes think they make you too loose. Everyone is different.
