Cholestrol

hi there, i noticed there was a post on here around 4 years ago about cholestrol. I'm a bit late to the party but I found the responses very interesting.

I'm 40 years old female and my cholesterol has always been up and down. a few years ago the overall was 7.0 then 5.5 and recently its 5.7.

my blood pressure is normal and heart rate seems pretty good. my doctor was talking to me about going on statins but after reading the previous posts I see a lot of people saying they aren't any good.

I don't even know if my cholesterol being at 5.7 is especially high?

I do have xanthelsma under my eyes, I've had them since I was 20. apparently these can be fatty deposits related to high cholesterol other people have them and their cholesterol is fine.

I guess what I'm asking is are statins worth it and is my cholesterol really all that bad.

my LDL is 3.52 and my HDL is pretty good.

thanks
