Choosing not to take medication

Hi I am newly diagnosed with RA.

Feeling bulldozed into taking medication with no other options offered.

My instinct says NO! it can't be the only option to poison my body in such a extreme way.

Has anybody else chose not to take the meds? and how do you feel ?

It’s day 2 after my serronegative RA diagnosis and I’m in this same situation. I don’t want to take this medication.  Since it’s serronegative maybe I don’t really have it. Can it hurt to take medication for something I don’t have have a positive blood test for?

It's hard to know what is the best thing to do. I struggled with beginning both of the medications that I am currently taking. (Plaqnuil and methotrexate) I have heard both good and bad things about both medications. Every medication unfortunately comes with a list of side effects. I have not experienced any side effects to date. And the medicine has helped me in numerous ways. I hope this helps.

I went without meds for the first 6 months. Was desperately against taking medications, ever! I went to a very intense and famous nutritionist who had a solution. I went on the anti-inflammatory diet and took multiple supplements. RA and RA symptoms went completely away. However, I barely pulled  my ankle and RA came back and started attacking my ankle and then my knee. Had to have my knee drained. Got it calmed down after not being able to walk for 3nweeks. But then I ate some fish that was imperceptibly  seasoned with cayenne pepper (nightshade vegetables #1 enemy of RA) at a restaurant  and RA came roaring back again. I finally evaluated what my life had become and realized that with the unexpected stresses of life that come up, RA was taking me down and my life had become a horror show just managing it even with even the amazing supplements and special diet (which involves a lot of work)  and I was truly missing out. Skip methotrexate if you can. Inhave heard it is a nasty drug.

I am sentive to medicine going through my stomach so I got to go straight to Orencia which I love and is great for childbearing age.

Also, those  who forego getting treatment medications/biologics for RA and try to go natural route have a higher rate of early dementia and Alzheimer’s due to the blood/ brain barrier and how pain residue is handled in the body.

I would say also, this would be a huge mistake. My mom has RA. She has already done this mistake and at last we have to go to doctor and she has been admitted in hospital for 4 days. Take medicine regularly.
