Yes I'm very pleased i had it done i feel alot better i don't i have a bladder issue i had hysterectomy /bladder lift over 15 years ago and it is holdi g strong . My obgyn said when you have things like that done it leaves all your other parts air bone and loose so i guess over the years lifting heavy things that is why all this came about and then when i tried going to the bathroom i felt a bulge , and of course having intercourse wasn't feeling to well neither but now it is all behind me but still taking it easy im still only 10 weeks po so i still have more healing but i feel better than I did

Hi Chris, I was a good couple of months and more I'm sorry to say.  At the four month mark, my husband collapsed from cardiac arrest and I was on my feet for an entire month caring for him - which now I realize, set me back again.  My doc still claims 6 weeks is ample time for healing and I totally beg to differ!  It takes MUCH longer than that while doing very little in the meantime.  Think of it - the most sensitive part of a female body is trying to heal, while gravity is pulling and your body is moving.  To me it stands to reason that it takes a long time to heal, so please, give yourself plenty of time - and then some - to fully recover.  I'm sorry if I sound negative but this is my experience.  I now need another surgery and I am not going to do it.  The tissue there is far too weak to support more surgeries and yet I have another prolapse so was fitted for a pessary which works well and helps me avoid surgery.  No more surgery for me!  I hope your experience is much better than mine and I really wish you a wonderful recovery!

It takes some time. I took my 12 weeks that the doctor advised, and  almost 3 years out I still guard my recovery, I don’t lift heavy, and I have light vacuum cleaner, and I just take my time these days and remember my prolapse back then. I’ve been blessed with success and am grateful. I listen to my body and take  breaks with feet up during the day no matter where I’m at. Hope all works out for you!

    Hi Chris

I had a hysterectomy and rectocoele repair 7 weeks ago and only just starting to feel like I can do little jobs around the house. I still don’t lift anything heavier than a cup of coffee and haven’t attempted hoovering yet. Saw my consultant last week for my 6 week f/u and everything is healing ok but he has advised another month off work due to swelling and pain I can get if I do to much. I told him I thought I would feel a lot better than what I did ( I’m 44 and always been active with work and kids ) and he said just because I didn’t have a big scar across my tummy didn’t mean I hadn’t just had a major op, which does make sense.

The ladies on here have been great and answered any questions I’ve had as I didn’t really get any info before or after the op as to what I could do. I think everyone is different and heals at different times but I think the main thing is to give yourself plenty of time to recover and don’t push yourself. I’ve done that and regretted it . I am not a very patient, patient 😂

Good luck and I’m sure you will be fine
