Christmas help needed

hi everyone, can anyone help? does anyone find may contain statements on chocolates etc confusing? i am definitely coeliac well so i've been told. does anyone know how safe products that say 'may contain' are for us who really do have coeliac disease and not pretending. who eats the products that say 'may contain' would you trust them? My husband bought me some really nice sweets for Christmas - may contain on them. safe? the websites say yes on some and no on the others. help? what would you do???
