chrohns flare up

Hi,  You would think being a seasoned  crohns suffer of 54 yrs that I would have experienced most things that crohns has to throw at you but I keep coming across new situations. At the moment I think I am experiencing a flare up which has been developing over the last eight months. All blood test that I have had over this period has come back clear, but around a month ago I contacted my IBD clinic to ask if I could see them as I was not feeling at all well. This time he decided to do a stool sample test as well as the blood test, this is the first time I have been asked for one of these.   Once again the blood test came back clear no infection. But the stool sample showed that there was an infection present which does concern me that was the infection there before.   Anyway he has referred me for a colonoscopy, this will be my first one believe it or not. I have had my prep and are now awaiting an appointment.  One of the main problems that I am suffering from this time is discomfort all over my back from my lower to my upper. This problem started in my lower back some years ago just beneath my rib cage. It is more a ache but it is not muscular or a nerve, but as the years have gone  by this discomfort has slowly radiated up my back and around my rib cage and up and down my spine. This is more noticeable when I am laying down and can become  very uncomfortable.  Normally when I am feeling unwell I try to sleep to get away from it all but this discomfort in my back prevents me from having comfortable sleep. I have tried taking paracetamol but this does not help. I am experiencing discomfort in my joints in other parts of my body so whether this is a continuation of this I don't know. I would like to know if any one else has experienced this back discomfort and if so have they found any thing that can relieve it

    Hello there,

You’re not having a great time right now are you?

I’m wondering if a spine X-ray or scan may be in order plus a dexa scan?

Having had this joyful disease so long it may be arthritis type issue?

I hope your scope goes well and there’s not too much going on for you when they look.

I have pain in the mid spine, I’ve got a rheumatology appt in a month, but I sort of think it’s because my lower back has fused up that it’s because of the strain on the upper back.

    Wishing you well

    Alfie xx
