Chronic anal fissure

Hi and thank you for taking the time to read my post
Suffering right now like mad guys.
Don't know why it started.
My problem is that I never was constipated. I was doing gym and having a diet with lots of fruit and vegetables. Going to the toilet doesn't give me any pain. Its the afterwards that kills me. A sharp pain and burning up to 10 hours. Doctor told me its a fissure
Also the muscles around-the- area tend to become so tense the pain gets so bad. I'm taking cicatridine suppositery and rectogesic cream.
So the cream relaxes the muscles and the supportery should work on the cut.
7 days gone, 3 times went to the toilet. I love food and started to refusing it as the pain gets excruciating. Wished death upon me twice already. Before starting the cure I am now ended up on the floor and I couldn't breathe or move. Surviving on soup at lunch and a slice of bread at dinner. Sometimes I skip it. Especially now with the covid its impossible to stand in line at the supermarket. Never felt so low in my life. If I don't go to the toilet the pain is bearable with sits baths. Or water bottles. Dreading tomorrow as I know I'll have to go. Surgery is out of the question at the minute but I would do it right now to just go back to my normal life

I am right with you. Similar time frame of agony and I too ended up on the floor this morning almost passing out from pain. Like you I was active before and ate well. I've suffered with chronic constipation since birth and had a fissure previously but have had that under control for many many years. Nothing like this amount of pain, ever. I have used all the creams, take baths, stool softeners but no improvement in almost a fortnight. I am eating much less and the small about I pass is excruciating. CBD oil helps but I still wake up in the night with pain and the thought of going to the toilet tomorrow fills me with blood curdling fear. I want to go to a doctor but can't with covid19, I'm trying for a telephone appointment.
All the best with it, you are certainly not alone. I had no idea how common it was until my first 5 years ago.

@Barry0981 I do feel for you mate. second day not going to the toilet but I've got a feeling it will happen today. pain killers don't work either, what I did once I took 3 pills of codeine as I couldn't handle the pain anymore, it did knock me right out. if I don't go to the toilet and I'm laying down its like there's no pain. can sitting down sometimes. but like today I've started doing the Hoover and 5 minutes after had to stop as just the burning started. laying down its like resetting the whole thing . Then after I'm better I carry on with whatever. different story if I go to the toilet. 6/7 hours of pain no stop. I know its disgusting but you know what works for me? if I wash my little finger with cold water, breath out and put it inside the anal area for like 30 seconds. it does ease the pain. but I've noticed as I'm taking suppositery, even after 10 hours its like its melted inside there and its not doing anything? all the best mate

use lidocaine for numbing the anal region , it won't heal it ,but it will definitely lessen the pain ,use gloved finger to apply it coz the applicator hurts during fissure , nifepidine based cream at night will help with spasm ,u can use rectiv(diltazem) too but i couldn't use it coz it gave tremendous amount of pain and burning during application , let time pass by ,u will heal ,talk to ur loved ones , don't give up ,i remember during the 1st two years i used to eat single piece of bread , u ll win this , it's a war ,one thing leads to another , u must not take stress ,take depression pills if u need but try to maintain ur calm ,water+ fibre+ stool softener+ no stress+ pelvic yoga =healing will start ,take care brother

I'm in the same boat as you. With the laying down I don't feel bad and I am sleeping and everything, it's when I stand up. I have an active job where I am stood and never sit so I've took a few days off to try rest before going back on Friday.
I have had fissures treated 7 or 8 times now operation wise but they come back as I suffer from constipation no matter what steps I take. I had an IBS flare up last night, it doesn't hurt to pass it's after the pain kicks in. I keep getting sharp stabbing pains too. Writing this from my sitz bath 😦 only was treated for this 6 month ago.

@lou101 hi hope you feel better. I've been constipated for the last couple of days but started eating lots of fibre and had a bowel movement an hour ago. usually the pain now will kick in after a couple of hours . being on medication, things are improving but very slowly

Hi. How are you doing now?

hello. Cant really moan as the improvements is astonishing. after a bowel movement the anal area stays tense but not like before. still sticking with a good diet rich of fibres. sitz sittings are not really good for me, still having hot baths to promote healing. managed to stand up for around 20 minutes after I used the ointment. started to learn tricks. like if I know that tomorrow I'll have to go food shopping, will have very light meals for the day before so I won't have bowel movement. today I had one and took some strong paracetamol as I couldn't handle no pain. didn't feel very great. wish I could do surgery right now. would not hesitate. will this ever end?

I know. I've had surgery 7 or 8 times now. Only lasted 6 months this time.
What ointment are you using? My specialist says she isn't going to operate again. So once I can get to the doctors after this lockdown I'm going to ask for a new consultant. I've been waiting 10 months to do physio on my bowels now. No letter. It's getting beyond a joke. I wish I had enough money to go private!

I'm in UK and my thoughts 4 weeks ago was to go private to accelerate the process. but no one is operating now so ill have to wait. I'm using rectogesic ointment. check it out online. you had surgery 7 times? we will never being able to get back to a normal life then

Yeah. And it'd my luck I'd end up with same consultant (if I had the money).
I have that cream and it hasn't done anything at all for me, I thought it would as everyone says it's good. It's so hard as no one can examine me, I just feel the pain is like a fissure pain but I know I have skin tags after the opp and blood blisters that have formed that my consultant says are very painful. But not doing anything to help me with them and I think my haemroids have come back so it's not fun in the area. Spoke to the doctor today, he's prescribed some lidocaine ointment to try numb the pain and said he would give me a small amount of tramadol. I just want lockdown to end now.
