Chronic BV with nothing working

for the last year i have started these symptoms of BV. over thios last year i haev noticed its when I have sex and it hasnt seemed to matter who it was, i believe it has nothing to do with the guy. About 4 yrs ago I had it for a month or two and when i realized the symptoms werent going away(fishy odor and discharge) I went to have it checked and thats when i was told I have bacterial vaginosis. She explained what it was to me and perscribed a perscription of flagyl. And it worked. i havent had any symptoms or cases of it after that. Until a year ago. I had noticed symptoms in feb-mar 2016 and when sexually active was when the fishy like odor started again and i noticed over a months time it wasnt going away so i knew it was BV again. that being said, i thought i could control it but when sexually active it was embarassing and the odor wasnt noticable until after sex. and i tried the garlic home remedy but nothing else but that didnt work. In july i had gotten a new boyfriend and about a month into it i called my home doctor and told her that i needed flagyl and that i was 100% sure i had BV. so she called in flagyl and i took the dosage for tht week. within a week the symptoms returned again. at this point i was so frustrated. Soon after (week or two) i just couldnt handle the embarassment anymore and went to my new gynocologist. i explained to her about the episode 4 years ago and the prior months of fighting this issue..I had researched it some and tried the garlic remedy and that was a fail to..almost right away. she put me on the flagyl for a week again. when symptoms came back within that week. i returned to her office a week or two later and she perscribed clindamycin vaginal cream. that didnt work either. So, she then put me on the flagyl again n it was perscribed for me to take after sex. so i did but at the end there it didnt seem to do as god but ive been on it for like 6 months at this point. in between times throughout the months, i was even trying the over the counter "refresh" and thatd spare me for a couple days then. thats when id start the flagyl again. when i stop using it or forget to after sex its within days it returns.i went back again she mentioned in earlier appnt that maybe i should try goin without tampons and use pads instead during my period. that did not work either. Throughtout these repeat visits to her office, she checked me for it and every time i have had it. shes even tried to treat my boyfriend with flagyl as well, but less then a day after taking it he was sick from it and stopped it. i had also recently in last 4 weeks had been perscribed to oral clindamycin(for other medical condtions/procedures. and between that and several more weeks of 7 days of flagyl..it is never more then a week before symptoms flare up again., it doesnt seem like there is hope anymore and i was wondering also if its at all possible that this BV will never go away. any ideas on permenant solutions?

I know that bv is extremely frustrating. I have had it after giving birth and then a year later. I have some advice for you and a warning as well. Please be careful with antibiotics! They weaken your immune system and kill good bacteria that you need! You can also get other things like cdiff and the list goes on! The cream was prescribed to me and that didn't work. A week of flaglyn 500mg 2x a day worked for me. After that I noticed my symtoms were returning a few weeks later. I never take baths and it happened again after taking a bath. I think it was the soap! Now I am very careful with not getting soap on the inside when showering. Just rinse the inside a little with warm water. Also try not to get sperm anywhere inside the vagina. You need to build up your good bacteria so I recommend eating Greek plain yogurt with added blueberries if you like them. I am taking the refresh probiotic. It is in the feminine aisle. It is so expensive but I take it before and after my period especially. I dont take it everyday and it has not been back. Also when using tampons I think it has helped me to change them regularly. I would stop antibiotic use, take probiotic, watch soap and semen, eat yogurt, try to cut out some sugar in your diet and see how that works. I also think it's wise to change panties after they get a little damp as well. You could also try an unscented laundry detergent. I hope this helps you and your symptoms don't return! I would try leaving the vagina alone! Just try to build up good bacteria for a little while and see how that works. I'm not a doctor but I know what worked for my body when they didn't have a solution.
