Not heard of this one however in some OUCH literature I have there is a list of other primary headaches, one of which is New Daily Persistent Headache (NDPH). There is something similar to Cluster Headache called Hemicrania Continua which is almost always controlled with indomethacin. Have you actually been diagnosed yet? By a GP or a Neurologist?

Sorry not to have been more helpful.

      Hello,

      Thank you for your reply.

Well this has been going on a while now & with no luck from every medication i have tried the gp now thinks chronic daily headache. I had been told last yr they are tension headaches & migraine & today gp said this so i'm pretty baffled to be honest.

Do you suffer & what works for you if anything? x

I suffer from Cluster Headache. The most painful condition known in medicine. You need to be properly diagnosed before you can start any treatment, preferably by a headache neurologist. What are your symptons like?

Aw you poor think i have read about how bad they can be sad what works to help you?

Mine are very much around my eyes & accross my forehead & feel like someone is squashing my head really hard with a lot of pressure. They are daily & constant. I feel lightheaded, exhausted, they affect my vision & speech & nothing shifts them. I can't stand daylight & noise & most afternoons i end up in bed with them.

      They truely are awful x

At least it's not CH - you cannot go to bed when a CH attack starts because you cannot stay still. When it's at its worst you rub your head really hard, bang your head on the wall then you start screaming, swearing and break down crying. When they stop (30mins-3hours) you just lie on the floor sobbing, totally exhausted. However, I'm fortunate to have some excellent meds to help me. As a preventative I'm currently on Lithium which does reduce the frequency and severity but the side effects aren't good. For an attack, I go straight on the Oxygen-100%- using an Ultra High Flow system. If that doesn't do the trick I have an Imigran (sumatriptan) injection which will get rid of the pain in 5 mins. This is great but you can use only 2 in 24 hours because of the effect they have on the heart. Anyway, enough of all that, the reason I now have all this treatment sorted is because of my excellent neurologist and team. My recommendation to you is to get your GP to refer you to a Neurologist to get properly diagnosed and then get onto the right meds. Good luck and get PF soon!

This is the first time on this site.  I suffered continuous headache for 10 years, diagnosed as hemicrania continua.  Although controlled by anti inflammatorys, i then developed ulcerative colitis, thought to have been brought on by long term use of nsaids.  One of the treatments prescribed for the colitis, also knocked out my chronic headache, seemingly permanently, as i have not suffered now for five years. Unfortunately, it took a large dose of prednisone (40 mg) over 4 months, which has some really brutal side effects for even months afterward, but overall, it really was worth it.  Doctors will usually try a short quick course of steroids for  hemicrania, but i did try that and it did no good at all.

Hello I'm currently suffering from a daily constant headache but what exactly helped you break the headache cycle? Which medication?

    Hello marlephil,

I'm so sorry to hear of the terrible time you have had/ are having. I too have had awful experiences with some medications from the gp & it's so scary they just dish them out without a second thought.

I'm just thinking my headaches are all anxiety related & not dch like the gp says. They have no bloody idea & fob you off.
