chronic ear pain and lump behind ear

hiya, im wondering if anyone could help....ive had chronic left sided ear pain for a year - been treated with lots of antibiotics but it keeps coming back. i saw an ENT man for a sore throat (unrelated) in the past and neck MRI showed nothing wrong there. ive now had a lump come up behind my ear. its very hard, like bone. im seeing a consultant again next week but am getting very anxious. has anyone experienced anything similar? thank you.
