Chronic Fatigue?

I’ve been experiencing fatigue for quite a while now. It started with what seemed to be a bad cold/flu a couple of years ago that just wouldn’t go away. Eventually it subsided a little but it’s always there. I have a few months where I can be okay - still low energy and in general not well but I can function, and then all of a sudden the worst of it comes back again. I’ve had constant sinus problems, swollen glands and headaches that come and go too. I’m a bit frustrated because I’m currently in the worst I’ve experienced it so far and I can hardly get out of bed. I’m finding it really hard to even keep my head up straight most days.
I’ve had blood tests after blood tests and almost all have come back normal. The only thing that was abnormal was my b12 but could that be causing all these symptoms? I’m on supplements right now. Nothing seems to be working. The doctor I saw a week ago suggested that I could have Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Sydrome but said that it would be hard to diagnose as all the tests I’ve had have come back as normal. He doesn’t think my b12 deficiency could be causing this, but I’m at a loss really and am getting no real answers.
Spending so much time in bed with awful headaches and fatigue is making me so miserable and I’m also so worried not knowing what’s wrong and why this keeps happening. If anyone has any ideas I’d be so grateful to hear some feedback on this.

Hi sorry to hear you have been feeling unwell for all his time. There is no specific test for CFS/me. The fact all your tests are normal does not make it hard to diagnose it. The fact they are all normal, and you have had your symptoms for so long, it is more likely you do have CFS. Tests rule other things out and it is a diagnosis of elimination . But is not my place to say you do have it of course!
Yes low B12 can make you feel fatigued. And that in itself can indicate something else could be going on . injections are more effective than oral supplements. Have your vit d evels been checked as most people have a low vit d? Have you been tested for gland fever ? That can go on for months.
I would request a referral for a second opinion. I did. Was sent to an endocrinologist. He also had a special interest in ME. Now referred to as CFS of course. Not being rude or anything , but your GP sounds clueless now. You have gone on for long enough feeling continually so unwell. It was the same for me for months and I couldn't stand it any longer. So asked to be referred. Tell him straight how you have had enough and can't go on like this.
In the meantime, don't push yourself too much and overdo things. Pace yourself between bursts of activity and rest. I have had ME/CFS for 21 yrs now. I am not the Best at following my own advice ! I am housebound.
The not knowing why you feel so unwell is very stressful and the worst thing to deal with . getting a diagnosis helps because at least you can be more aware what you are dealing with and can move a bit forward with management . whatever the condition , disease etc it may be.
I do hope you get some answers too. And hopefully you can feel at least a bit better . take care .
