Chronic fatigue, but coffee causing nausea, dizziness.

Hello, I experience chronic fatigue, which has gotten worse since moving to South East Asia. I'm not sure if it's the heat or the lack of clean air or what. I'm exhausted when I get home from work, and I sleep about 5pm to 8pm. Then I sleep again from about 11pm to 7am (total 11 hours). This is a problem for me because I have a lot to do. Also, despite getting all that sleep, I still have no energy throughout the day.

Recently I have tried drinking coffee, but even a small amount makes me feel jittery, nauscous, and light-headed. I feel like I could faint at any moment. I'm wondering if I stick with coffee, will my body adjust and the nauscousness and dizziness will go away? or is there a better solution to my problem?

Btw, I am a very healthy 31-year-old. I eat lots of veggies and exercise almost everyday.

    Hi,

I guess read about positive effects of coffee for people with ME/CFS. I have the same experiences you do. Coffe tends to make me dizzy and nauseous, sometimes I get , making it really hard when I have to tachcardia for hours. The better I am, the better I tolerate coffee (which by the way I love, making it really hard when I have to quit coffe for a while). I hope you will be able to enjoy coffee again when this time of severer syptoms has passed.

I switched to green tea, so much better. It's not addictive and doesn't make me feel dreadful like black tea and coffee.

The oversleeping problem is simply something I can not fight, when I sleep less everything is worse. Just trying to not to get worse is a battle.

Diziness and nausea might be helped by adjusting your diet. Fresh ginger tea is especially good for nausea.

It's unclear to me from reading your post if you have ME/CFS. Have you been diagnosed with this illness? Because a hallmark of the illness is severe postexertional fatigue, and you're working and exercising every day. I haven't been able to do either since getting the illness. On the other hand, problems with coffee and caffeine in general are very common with CFS/ME. Coffee is very hard on the adrenals, and the adrenals are affected with this illness. The first thing my doctor told me when I was diagnosed was to give up coffee. Whenever I drank it, I would end up very ill and and in bed for days afterwards. So, despite my love for coffee, I gave it up. You should probably do the same. And if you do have ME/CFS, you need to pace yourself throughout the day and cut back on your activities, or you risk getting a lot worse.
