I have been suffering from hives for the last three months! I’ve taken many diff antihistamine and none of them seemed to work Claritin, Benadryl, Loratadine, fenoxadine, hydroxazine ,singularity!! None of those worked after my second er visit the prednisone seemed to stop the rashes from occurring but I was seeing significant weight wain and after being on the prednisone for two months straight the drs would not prescribe me anymore.i was miserable finally went to see a immunologist/allergy specialist they did blood work prescribed more of those meds that didn’t work until I could get approved for the Xolair which they assured me would work! So after two weeks I am finally approved at this very moment I am sitting in the waiting room after receiving my first injection! Hopefully those awful side effects won’t occur and more so hopefully Ill finally have some relief!

Toya;  I understand your frustration, been there done that, stayed on prednisone long enough to gain 20 lbs...and like you, took every imaginable antihistamine.  The xolair has worked wonders for me and I hope that it will for you!  Think positive -- it's not an immediate miracle, but it is a step in the right direction for many of us.  I will take my third series of injections next week!  I'm a believer in xolair.  Best wishes and blessing being sent your way!

Toya;  I did not notice any negative side effects from the Xolair either time I have taken the injections.  The first series, I stayed on my prednisone all month and all of my antihistamines.  I didn't see total healing, but when I compared it to the days that I was covered head to toe and in so much pain, it did seem better.  I have noticed that as my hives have diminished,  I seem to get them in the same places, all in my middle portion of my body.  Tight clothing like waist bands and bras are my worst areas.  By the second set of injections, the number of break outs showed significant improvement in spite of my being under significant stress due to my husband having brain surgery.  And, the last couple of weeks, I have not had any bad break outs and was either clear or maybe had one hive.  I've never heard of anyone gaining weight from Xolair....but the prednisone is almost guaranteed to pack on the poundsI  Please let me know how you are doing!   God bless!   btw; If you are not already taking Doxepin ask your doctor about it.  I take it only at bed time but it makes a tremendous difference in my sleep and seems to minimize or completely prevent break outs during the night....
