Hi Fazak.
Firstly sorry you're having to go through all of this. I can tell you it gets easier. I take it you're meaning your operation for a fistula creation? Nothing to it! A vascular surgeon will scan your non dominant arm and plan a few positions in your wrist or arm where he plans to create your fistula. It's usually a general anaesthetic. Once tgats done your fistula takes about 12 weeks to mature. Again working on the assumption you're getting a fistula created? There's also Pertoneal dialysis which I know very little about. Some people's fistulas can go unused for a year or so but generally and in my case I started Haemodialysis 12 weeks later. Initially dialysis tires you out and before you know it, it just becomes a way of life. Good luck Fazak and I wish you well

Hi Fazak , hope your ok. 😀 . Can I just ask what your GFR / creatinine levels are ? And are you having a lot of symptoms ? My GFR is now 24 , not sure about my creatinine level until I go back to the consultant on the 14th November . He says he tries not to start dialysis until GFR is 10 , as long as my symptoms are ok !! So was hoping I had a while yet ! Even though I'm absolutely shattered and sleeping lots ! I have an iron infusion on 14th too , so hoping this will help the tiredness . I'm anxious about the fistula too ! Good luck x

AmyLou,
My creatinine is 3.46 with an eGFR of 13. My BP is 124/74 fairly consistently without meds. I do have fairly severe anemia. So my nephrologist has me taking an iron medication and I receive EPO injections. With my BP in range and anemia treatment that has my hemoglobin from 10.5 to 11.5 I feel quite well. Of course I adhere to dietary restrictions and so forth. My electrolytes are in the normal range.
My nephrologist generally waits to start dialysis until the patient is struggling even when under treatment--unable to keep electrolytes in range, blood pressure management problems or the like.
So it may be quite some time before you find you need to start dialysis🐶
