For the last 12yrs since i was forced to leave work with injuries i also still to this day suffer with my demons that haunt me every night, iam up now 2nd time tonight, iam not game to go back to bed unless i can find some tablets or something? My nightmares are mostly due to what had happened to me at my last place of work,it ended up in workcover and i got out with peanuts?
I have a good day but at night my subconcios take over and i relive it all again. I have tried all the the help with no luck, i am a spiritualist type of person and thougth i will get control off this. Doctors only give me pills with no luck i try to mediate but find it hard to really get into a relaxed format. Please has anyone have some sound idea's for me, it's driving me mad no sleep i long for one good night sleep.
Many thanks Alexander.....

I too have suffered from nightmares, waking up with shakes etc, not being able to sleep on many occassions since having open heart surgery.
There are various options with out taking tablets that i have found helps, but not all the time.
1 Try and keep active during the day time.
2 During the days activities, give your self time to think about positive things, any thoughts that have and would make you smile. Also if you find yourself trying to get so much done with in the day hours, slow it down.
3 Meditation is good but very hard to use if you have experienced a bad bad night. or if there are so many noises around you.
Using meditation CD recordings is good.
4 Try not to place to much thought on the nightmares as this will only make them more prominant.
5 Try and read when sitting in bed. Learning how to relax your body and mind is always a help.
You mention you are a Spiritual person, being aware of your situtation is always a positive way, however thinking about spiritual activity and not protected can bring through bad energies. There may well be others out there that will laugh, however knowing how the spitual world works i take it very serious to understand that one should be aware of other things around them.
If you do turn to medication then i would reccommend CALMS, or METATONE, easly obtained from your local chemist.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I know it’s hard but advise you NOT to give yourself a hard time, your experience is nothing from the normal, but does need guidance.
If you return to your doctor and ask him to refer you to the wellbeing or MIND service, you will be allocated a person to have one to one, this will give you a chance to talk your situation through and also to have a chance of understanding what is happening.
You are problem spending a large amount of time thinking about the past events, you need help in dissolving these demons and start to think positively. Easy for you to say you might say to your self, but it does work. You know just by talking about it here helps, so therefore you know things can help.
Your moods are exactly what I have experienced, After seeking some help and guidance, after 8 week sessions I have managed to progress to a better place, I am not completely there, but having some one who understood me was a real bonus.
Not everyone understands depression, and you will most likely hear people say" oh for gods sake pick your self up", that's no help to anyone as you possibly know. Keep talking it out and get help of some kind.
Best regards.

I would strongly advise that you seek treatment in the form of talking therapies before you consider taking medication for what are effectively 'bad dreams'. People dream. Animals dreams. It is as natural to us as walking. It cannot be cured nor can it be prevented.
As has been suggested, your first call may be EMDR. I would urge you to speak to your GP and ask for a referral to a specialist.
