Hi its been a while since I have been on here . Just a little catch up I am having revision done in the next couple of months. Just wondering if any of my hippie friends got a STRYKER HIP, tRITANUIM HEMISPHERICAL CLUSTER WITH A V40 DELTA CERAMIC HEAD 28 MM ADMX3 INSERT 28/48 MODULAR DUAL MOBILITY INSERT 42E 28 WITH A SIZE 2 ACCOLADE 11 127 DEG ...... I sent for my National Joint Registry and received the certificate back with my details of above. Anyone out there with the same hip who are having problems I am from England and I know this is American Joint . Thanks any comments would be appreciated

Mine is BioMet. Surprisingly few people actually know what is inside them, I demanded to know what mine was when they decided they could not rectify the misplacement of the cup.
Although Ducksoup praises US workmanship (they are all made to very exacting standards much like aircraft parts), but there is always the very slightest possibility of a failure to spot something wrong in manufacture of the original product. I have it all in my "SOS" talisman locket, translated into several languages in case something goes wrong when I'm abroad.
Exceed ABT Ceramic Insert - Biolox Delta Material (This bit is misplaced in my hip)
Exceed ABT 15° Acetabular Shell - Porous and Hydroxyapatite Coated 58mm
Biolox Delta Modular Ceramic Head - 36mm- 3mm Neck, Type 1 Taper
Taperloc Primary Femoral Stem, Porous and Bonemaster Coated - 12 x 144mm, Standard Offset, Type 1 Taper
Two Biomet Acetabular Systems Low Profile Dome Self Tapping Screws - 6.5 x 25mm

Hi Lynne, Sorry to hear that you need a revision. I was wondering what the problem with your Stryker Dual mobility hip is. I had one in 2016,this was following many operations due to dislocation, [wrong size ceramic head used] and severe metalosis and huge psuedotumor from a Biomet titanium stem and cobalt chromium head. I was given the Stryker because the Professor at the Royal National Orthopedic hospital thought it would give more stability. However over the year it repeatedly was sub luxating [coming in and out] until it eventually dislocated completely. I now have been given a constrained cup as the greater Trocanter broke away with the last dislocation and I have no muscles at all supporting the side of my hip.In fact my last sugery was 8 hours as they had to remove a large chunk of my stomach to fill the gap where the psudotumour was. Unfortunately I also developed an infection and I'm now on anti biotics for life! I will always have to walk with a stick and my mobility is very limited due to extreme pain. I understand that any of these hips are brought to market with no prior testing due to something called 'the equivalent rule'. ie...this one is equivalent to another which has been given a 'C' certification by the controlling authorities. Needless to say I have done an enormous amount of research as my case has been so awful and traumatic. I have had a total of 12 surgeries on my hip! I would be interested to hear your story. Best wishes to you and good luck with the revision.

I have granulomatous lesion within the hip posteriorly and also another anterolateral lesion, Mri showed a pseudotumor but they said this is not correct as it is not metal on metal !!!!! Had a biopsy for AVAL but no infection seen but found metallosis but Consultant is not concerned about this !!! Well I am as done so much research since I had it done . They left my leg 1.9 shorter and have a torn abductor tendon .So because of the disability I can not walk they have decided to do revision . This operation was meant to be a life changing and now left me disabled . I had worked all my life for he NHS and 24 yrs service they have dismissed me now .

I had surgery done 9 weeks ago findings were the anterior wall of the femur was extremely thin and there was a small section setting loose .
there was some evidence of poly wear and osteolysis with synovial change inferiorly in keeping with this problem
Inside of the tritanium shell was more evidence once again of poly debris this was sent to histology, also there was micro movement of the cup there was some instability at the bone implant interface. they removed 2 of the screws which 2 were in tact one which had broken this lends weigh to the fact the cup was micro moving.
There was granuloma also sent to to histology .
They also preformed a posterior repair and made my legs the same length as it was different from my first surgery of 1.9...
Reports came back with sections show a piece of fibrous tissue with fibrin deposition and histiocytes with dark brown pigment. this features consistent with metallosis . severe inflammation which granuloma samples were sent .
I had a bone graft .
fracture femur due to getting old component out which he did say may happen, so hopefully pain will improve but still on lots of meds for the pain but its early days .
sorry to go on , how come you have had 11 operations oh dear not good
God bless you lynne x x x x

I don't know which on I got but I had severe end of stem painful two years after the replacement and also had to have a revision. The implant was too short and was hitting the bone every time I stepped. I hope all goes well for you.
