I am 26 yrs old i first went to my doctors 18months ago with pain in my neck, at first they thought it was a traped
nerve. when i later went back and told them i had not gone away but infact was getting worse. i now have pain all the way down my left side of my body. i have pins n needles in my hand sometimes goes numb my bones hurt its as if they are being pulled and twisted i am alot weaker now in my left side also that side of my face hurts aswel my musles at the back of my shoulder and my neck often spazrm.i was sent for an xray which nothing showed up they then sent me for a neck mri scan when the scan finnished the people that did the scan on me asked me what was going on i told them and they said to me they thought i should be having a brain scan by the sound of it not a neck scan.
i am so confused my doctors say they dont know what is wrong so now just say oh you have chronic pain we think. but i dont understand why when i had my MRI why they said they thought i should be having a brain scan can anybody help me with this or give me any advise? i am so stressed out with all this i know something is not right i know my know body but its as if know body wants to find out know that they have put down that it maybe chronic paini would be so greatful if someone could explain

Hi Laura, I am also having pain and symptoms only on my left side.
for me this all began almost 5 years ago with what was annoying symptoms really with some pain.
I had tingling all down my left side with some weakness & some stiffness.
I had an mri done on my brain ans neck, the brain was clear but they did find some disc bulges impinging a nerve, but I was told this couldn't be the cause of all my symptoms.
5 years later & into the now I'm a mess.
my entire left side is just so weak, the pain level is beyond my pain threshold especially during a flare up.
during a flare up i notice how painful my left eye is & the pain pretty much goes from literally my head down to my toes 😔
I was told it was probably fibromyalgia but i don't believe this to be the case.
o hoping to get answers

i know this is an old thread but felt need to comment. been having random pains, gastro issues, dry eye, dry mouth, dry skin, pain is primarily on left side some even joint pain throughout depending on day. rheumatology has been best answer they are the more detailed and patient doctors out there. fired first rheumatologist because he wasnt listening as i could tell from visit notes. new rheumtologist has been great. switched all ny specialists in network with him and they talk to each other which helps a lot. originally diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis sero negative. new rheumatologist disagrees and confirmed sjogrens diagnosis, inflammatory arthritis still trying to nail down which one as my blood work doesnt point enough to which one. -also fibromyalgia. i saw a few comments that fibro is a dump bin for when doctors dont wanna help i disagree. auto immune is very complicated and not easy to diagnose. its a start and what matters is they arent stopping there. you do follow up visits and you work the problem together.
i am on plaquinel 400mg, metopolil succinate for early/extra heart beat (newer issue), pantazalol for gerd, xyxal for allergies and xiidra for dry eye.
of everything aqua therapy helped the most with the pain and CBT.
its a frustrating disease its invisible illness. one site i have found extrmemly helpful is creaky joints. lots of good articles and sjogren foundation.
stay safe.

After 30 years of these same symptoms, I have determined that it is a muscular chain reaction which is eased by anti-spasmodics. In my case, it may be a result of "moreton's toe", leg length difference, or lower back disc irritation. It causes tension up to my jaw but mostly in the left neck and shoulder. If you have neck or shoulder pain and anti-spasmodics help, check further down for the cause.

I'm 46 and experiencing the same. I've been googling...so far Rheumatoid arthritis, gout, multiple sclerosis, osteoarthritis, and fibromyalgia came up. I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but I think I may have Rheumatoid arthritis or Multiple sclerosis, but all these conditions have similar symptoms and hard to diagnose. I'm sure you're like me and want more definite answers and relief from the pain and numbness/tingling. Glad It's not all in my head & hope we f find answers soon!
