Chronic Pancreatitis... SUDDEN INTENSE PAIN.. HELP

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hello all, I have been suffering from chronic pancreatitis from almost 2 years. Like others I had my fair share of that hellish pain that we feel and know thing or two about pancratitis.

From past Week I have encountered with unusual(well for me) new problem which I did not had in the past. I get Severe Upper-mid abdominal pain and back-pain on the left upper side, the pain is so severe that it feels like someone is stabbing you from front and behind( I pop Tramadol ASAP), the intense pain lasts for 30 mins to 45 mins and subsidize over 2 to 3 hours.

The weird thing about this the severe pain comes with the Interval of 12 hours( mostly two times in a day, happening almost every day from past week or so), this is new to me and the pain is unbearable(really severe).

Has anyone experienced this before, if so I would like some advise, I'm really fed up with this pain.

Waiting for your guys reply.

Tom I can feel for you I have CP for about several years also so I just started this same and I mean same pain you mentioned so I went to the Dr Friday because I assumed it was a new pain not related to CP so I got a call

today from the office and I was told that my Pancresatic levels were just in range but my cholesterol levels were high as were my trygliserites dr said that trygliserites can cause pancreatic pain so back on meds to lower it I was on for awhile but was able to lower just within range a years ago but I have slacked on diet and such so I just started them again tonight dr office did want me to go in for a ultrasound to rule out stones in the kidneys as I have had those a few times before but I am waiting on a call for that in the meantime I'll take the meds and will let you know if this somehow helps

Hi Tom i am so sorry read about your problems. I some times think too this may also be related to stress and also fear. In my case since the GP refered me to a specialist at Homerton he told me i lost some weight and that made me feel so depressed. To make matters worst each time i read up on the internet about this illness it make me feel extremely worried. I am now having sleepless nights, not being able to concentrate at work that has resulted in my manager having to speak to me in private. Everything i am doing now i make mistakes and very basic ones because it has affected my whole outlook and approach to life. I have pains in my stomach but not severe very recently i started having back pains on left side and a very severe pain under my left sole of my foot. I try like yourself to ignore it but it is extremely difficult.

My advice, join a Gym registed with the swimming classes it helps a lot to relax you. I feel your very stressed a lot becuase of these problems.

    Hi Tom

I too have similar pains. My pains feel like rats knawing from the inside out front lefts side of abdomin a few inches under breast and through the back. The pain is very sever and lasts for several hours then becomes mild to moderate for a couple hours before flaring back up. It goes on for several days then I will get a couples days where it's just very sore then it starts over again. I'm extremely worried because the doctor can't find a diagnosis but I'm sure it's pancreas related. I'm frustrated and angry that I'm not taken more seriously and wonder how long I can live like this before I have to put an end to it myself. It's no kind of life to live and if you are hurting as I am I am so sorry to know this. I wouldn't want anyone to have to feel this type of pain and not be treated for it. It's very sad that there are so many narcotic addicts that you can't even get a decent pain reliever for it. All I truly desire is a diagnosis and treatment so that I can live a normal life. Please keep us updated on your progress. I would be interested to know what happens with you. Good luck...you are not alone....

And one more thing, he said most probably I should have surgery. Has anyone had surgery before regarding pancreatitis. Your thoughts on that?

Hi Tom, glad to hear you went to your doctor. Please make sure you have an EUS before any thoughts on surgery. I would strongly advise on a second opinion for going under the knife. I personally have not gotten to your place where pain is concerned and praying with exercise and diet to not get there. Surgery can not be undone so do your research. Good luck and hope your test results are good and clear!
