Chronic Pancreatitus help.

Please help. The last couple years of my life has been hell. I have gone from a healthy good looking guy to a 100 lb 52 year old man. I have been mis diagnosed and ignored. Two days ago I finally found a doc who figured out I have chronic pancreatitis. My pancreas is not functional and I have been put on Creon. Yesterday was my first dosage. It seems to be working since I slept well last night. I do not drink or abuse drugs. Has anyone else experienced extreme weight loss and gained it back? I just am tired of looking like a cancer patient .

Mike it took 5 years to diagnose my CP always sent for ultrasound test never found anything. I then had pains in my chest and sent for MRI with contrast which showed up my CP , put on Creon and take at least 18x2500 per day . Apart from having an attack of CP a year ago spending a week in hospital and losing 2 stone I have now actually put weight on. Still get pain and bloating but nothing like I used to do.

Take Solpodol for pain relief and Amytriptaline to help me sleep. CP is such a hard illness to diagnose. Hope your health improves mate.

    Good luck Kevin.

Ps if your on FB the pancreatic tree is a really good forum

Thanks for your input! I am taking 36,000 units of Creon 4 times a day. Since it was so painful to eat the last few years I have to relearn a 3 meal diet. I wouldn't eat till 5 in the evening to avoid the pain. Right now my pancreas is enlarged and calcified. I never drank alcohol. I am still in pain but much more manageable.

Yes 3 years ago I was 90 pounds Dr. Threatened me with a feeding tube. Then I too was diagnosed. The Creion should help you put back on weight. You probably have major malnutrition. I drank a lot of boost. I put back on weight a year ago. But am still very sick. Seeing a specialist 6 hours a way for another procedure at the end of the month. I hope everything gets better for you soon. Keep your head up!! Best wishes.
