Chronic Plantar Fasciitis

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi there,

Can anyone relate to 4 years of debilitating PF in both heels? Any advice about recovery stories etc would be appreciated.

I had surgery 15 months ago, its just taking ages to mend and very hard to be active.

With thanks,

Toby R

    hi,

as a pf sufferer for many years who has tried everything including surgery, i thought my running days were finally gone.

well to cut a long story short i have been using a rowing machine after every run. it seems to give the plantar a really good stretch, i am now not only pain free (never thought i would be saying that ) i'm also running .

    might be worth a try

    good luck

Hi I had an attack of PF in my right foot a few years ago and was completely off my feet for 6 weeks solid. I couldn't even put my feet on the floor to get out of bed in the morning and I had to literally crawl to the bathroom. The pain was so bad I was unknowingly compensating by taking my weight on my opposite hip, which started to ache as well. Eventually with complete rest (I put a lot of weight on) it started to ease, but the thing that made the most difference was Fitflop footwear. Note that this is a brand name, there are other brands out there but this one is the best by a long way in my opinion. They actually mention Plantar Fasciitis on their website. You can get them in open toes sandals, boots, sandshoe style - you name it, and for both men and women. I would 100% recommend them - my PF has completely gone now. Good Luck

Sorry to hear about your pain - I had a similar experience and tried just about anything to take it away.

The only thing that's helped me - like someone else who has replied is support in the heel arch.

There's a technical term called - heel strike, this is when you put 2.5 times your bodyweight through your foot - and the plantar muscle. This is when walking become very painful and sore as the weight is put through this part of your foot. The only thing that worked for me was when a podiatrist recommended an insole called orthoshock insole. It cost under £20 and the reason why it worked for me is that it absorbs the impact when walking which was my problem. I don't know if it will help your foot pain but that would be my advice - hope this helps

Hi, Look for the video 'how to strap your foot for plantar fascitis' (or something similar to that.) It shows how to put strapping on the foot to alleviate the symptoms. It's worked very well for me, it's a cheap and easy solution...and it saved me from an injection, which I didn't want. I did put the whole of the instructions on another question....but I haven't got the time to type it all out!!
