Chronic prostatitis

Hello everyone! I've been having urinary problems for about 2 years now. My symptoms are obstructive as well as irritative like urinary retention, dribbling, difficulty urinating, hesistancy and general discomfort in the penile area. Normally it doesn't burn or hurt to pee if urine is not much concentrated. No discharge either. Just some trouble voiding completely. Went to a urologist, he performed some tests
Urinalysis- normal
Retrograde urethrogram - no sign of any abnormality
Cystoscopy showed mild urethritis. Was given antibiotics. No noticeable improvement.
Im virgin so not an std. I talked to a urologist and he says urethritis can be hard to treat if prostate is the source. Got a second opinion and he thinks urethritis is just an issue caused by prostatitis. He asked for a semen culture. I went for one and it also came back negative.
Now the thing that worries me is that if it was bacterial prostatits It should have been cleared by now. I don't think I have CPPS as well since there is no pain in the pelvic area other than discomfort and itching in the penis which I attribute to urethritis. My symptoms are mild and normally I can carry my day without any difficulty but my voiding problems are gradually worsening.
What describes this persistent urethritis and voiding problems? Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

You need to look up both kind. I have some of the same problems you are saying you have I e-mailed my doctor and he told me I have Chronic Prostatitis which you can get reed of it is the other one that if you have it it's for life. I have a friend that has had it for almost 20 years. My urologist told me that this is stree related. He told me to drink alot of water and no sex or masturbating for 2 weeks. The prostate is inflamed and you have to avoid irritanting the bladder . Take care Ken

Also how are you feeling right now? Does refraining from sex or masturbation do any good?

Good morning Nick. Still have some pain in the groin back ache is gone for now. Not going to the bathroom as much. But not alot coming out.. I'm still going to do it for 2 weeks like my doctor said. It's been doing ok I guess it's going on 5 days. I have a lady friend that wanted to give me a rub down and I had to say no I can't have here touch me. It feel so good that I don't think I can stop at just the rub down. Staying off porn sites so I winot think about it. I have been waking up with morning wood that could put a nail in. Have to forget about it. But it is strange that one you have to do it and the other irritant the bladder. I have a friend that has had it from the time he was 17. I worked with him years ago. He has bacterial prostatitis and his doctor lold him to have sex and masturbate as offen as he can o clean out the prostate. He also goes for prostate milking even other month. They check the sample whiles hes there. Going to the gym this morning to keep busy. I will do what I can. I trust my doctor. Well have to go to the bathroom and we will see how the day goes. I sent him a email on Friday to tell him about what was going on to keep him informed. Hope your doing well I will let you know what is going on later in the week. Been drinking water and juice. Sometime water does taste good Ken

So you're telling me that your friend had bacterial prostatitis for over 20 years and it didn't went away. Thats strange since I was under the impression that the infectious prostatitis gets cleared up quickly and its the non bacterial one that you have to endure for long. What kind do you have and for how long?
I've had mine for about 3 years and up until recently all doctors thought my prostate was fine and it was urethritis causing all the issues. Then I saw this urologist who thinks that urethritis is secondary and the actual problem might be with the prostate. My semen culture just came back negative so even if I have prostatitis its the non infectious one.

It has only been a month for me. My doctor told me I have Chronic Prostatitis. Which he told me that it is stress related. I am doing what he said to do. Drinking alot of water and trying not to irritant the bladder. And no sex because the prostate is inflamed. Been 8 days Doing ok for now I do not feel like i'm seating on a ball but still have pain in the groin most of the time on the right side. Stream is weak most of the time and end up pushing. My friend has had Bacterial Prostatitis from the time he was 17 He is doing great and he deal with it. One doctor he saw wanted to take the prostate out. He said no and got another doctor. He has been on meds and he has flare up some time but most of the time is fine. His doctor does milking of the prostate now to relieve the pressure. It's strange one you can have sex and the other you can't. I will see my urologist in 2 weeks we will go from there. He just started doing Rezum. I have to e-mail him and tell him what I have read on here there are to many men ending up with retro from the procedure. Men are having it because they will not get it. I hope they find the problem ken
