Chronic Small Vessel Ischemia- What to Do to Help Condition

With a recent MRI, it appeared that I might have CSVD, chronic small vessel disease (ischemia).

Other than correcting my diet which was good to begin with and keeping cholesterol levels down...also very good, would a statin be a good idea? Any thoughts on this? This condition although common in older people could lead to dementia, stroke and Parkinson's disease. I want to make sure I control it as much as possible.
