Hi, yes these symptoms are very familiar to me and in my case result from grinding teeth and contraction of muscles during in my neck and shoulder during the night. finally after years of suffering, I have been

diagnosed with REM sleep disorder, though one can have these symptoms without full-blown REM sleep

disorder. I have been referred to a sleep clinic after months on amytryptaline tablets, - (muscle relaxant),

helped but did not get to the route of the problem. the starting point was my dentist who noticed I had been grinding my teeth and damaged my jaw-joint. I've been to physios and osteopath - all helped but I need to get to the route of the problem.

Hope this may help - I know how it feels

I realise this is a year after your message. I also suffer from chronic tension headaches and have tried many things. My GP has just suggested pregabalin. I year on from when you posted have you had any positive results?
