Have been taking 2.5 grams of Cialis, after 3 weeks I still have to get up 3 to 4 times nightly. How long before it helps?

Hi Lew,
It depends on both the cause of your excessive night time urination (nocturia) as well how well the Cialis 2.5 grams is working.
If the cause of your nocturia is non prostate related, which is often the case even if you have bph, then the Cialis may not help at all. On the other hand, if the nocturia is caused by retention secondary to bph, then it might help although the optimal dose is 5mg/day.
You can pretty much figure out things yourself with a simple void log. Just write down the time and amount of each void for 24 hours. If your total night time void volume is over 40% of your 24 hour void, then your nocturia may be caused by factors other than your prostate and the Cialis probably won't help much in that regard. An intake log is also a good idea where you write down the time and amount of fluid you take in.
Again, it's not uncommon for nocturia not to resolve with the typical bph drugs like Flomax and now Cialis. Unfortunately, many uros plod on anyway without doing void logs and not only prescribe drugs but also suggest prostate reduction surgeries for nocturia, when in fact they won't help at all if the cause is other than the prostate.
Have you had your retention measured via ultrasound at your uro's office? That's another factor to consider.

I hope that by taking the smaller dosage that my body will be able to handle the 5 mg dosage, Do y'all think may happen?
