Cipralex, cant live with it, cant live without it

I have been on Cipralex 20mg for 2 years now and i was prescribed the drug for depression, anxiety/panic attacks. I started on 5mg which was too higher dose for me and i had extremely bad side effects. agitated legs, couldnt sit still for 2 minutes, felt like i had to run around the block as my legs wouldnt stop moving. I got bad vision, dizziness, nausea, headaches, rollercoaster emotions, sweating, and zero libido. This all went away after 2 months. The nausea and motion sickness has stayed with me every since along with having a non existent libido and being constantly tired every single day. Now ive had enough of this drug, it is ruining my relationship with my partner and i have started to try and decrease my dose with the help of my GP. I have tried this 4 times this year with no success as my panic attacks come back and so do the side effects. Its been 2 weeks and ive had extreme nausea. Im at 15mg and will remain at this amount until the side effects get better. I am hoping to be rid of cipralex in the next few months. Its been hard as even though the side effects are really bad it has helped me a great deal as i havnt had any attacks since ive been on them and i have managed to cope with my emotions. I am afraid of how i will be when i finally come off them as i dont want the attacks to come back but i have to try. Due to my lack of concentration on this drug i havnt been able to read a book or watch a movie or dvd in 2 years...rather odd. So, good luck to everyone who is trying to come off this drug.

I feel for you. My one daughter and myself are on 20mg Cipralex and the younger daughter on C Lift. It is interesting that mly daughter on Cipralex had initial side effects, tiredness, dry mouth etc. Now she has gained some weight but is great and copes with that. In fact when she forgets to take Cipralex we all know by her mood and say \"have you taken your tablet\". She is dreading the day she stops it. She has normalised completely. She is a high achiever and was often down. I on the other hand took it due to more ADD type symptoms. I never sat still, never concentrated and after discussions with a GP felt I had depleted seratonin levels which affected me in that way. I also was not producing enough. I was never depressed though. I have moved on from initial side effects which were extreme tireness and fatigue, yawning all the time, dry mouth, etc. to now weight gain, insomnia, perspiring, agitation (kicking of leg etc.) constant loose bowel movement, dizziness etc. I have decided to come off and am starting now and supplementing with eye Q capsules and am investigating other natural products to promote seratonin production. The young daughter on C Lift is fine. I shall be interested to see when I am off Cipralex whether the benefits outweighed the side effects! I hope there is an alternative if I need it.

if your serious about coming off the tablets id consider getting a pill crusher and doin it over 3-4 months and having valium at the ready! ive been on and off them for 4 years and had a bad reaction last year. felt like my nervous system was on fire, very suicidal and scared to death of anything, felt like i was going psychotic. i started on 10mg and went upto 20 over 2 months and didnt feel any benefits compared to how i was before. been off them 11 months now but have been through hell and dont want to take anymore drugs! exercise, meditation and relaxation techniques have been the key for me getting better. the first 3 months were the worst, lots of stomach problems, flu-like symptoms and de-realisation. i believe it was ssri-discontinuation syndrome. look it up on wikipedia and keep strong it does get better.

Do u honestly think Escitalopam helps u? I have taken it in the past but was suicidal so came off it gradually. I have since been through another difficult time emotionally & the doctor has prescribed Citalopram but I dont want to take it. Surely there must be a better way to treat anxiety than with these chemicals.
