Cirrhosis diagnosed at 33 two days after having cancerous renal tumor removed.

My brother is 33 years old. He was born with levo transposition of the greater arteries with factor five Leiden. He had two open heart surgeries, one after he was born the other a couple years later. In his high school years he had a pace maker installed. He has been relatively healthy until recently, considering his conditions except for gout and arthritis which seem poorly managed. He frequently has gout flare ups that cause intense amounts of pain. Last August he was hospitalized for a couple of months with MRSA. During that time they found something on his kidney. The MRSA was very severe, so they allowed him to heal before performing a biopsy. Which came back as renal cancer. Last week they performed surgery and froze the tumor. He spent the night in the hospital and came home. He was back in the hospital the next day because of bloating that turned out to be normal. However, his eyes were turning yellow and they performed a test on his liver. It seems to be that he has cirrhosis and his spleen is enlarged. He is seeing a doctor that specializes in the heart and liver but cannot be seen until the end of January.

I just cannot believe these are unrelated events. His entire body seems to be malfunctioning and there must be an explanation. He was tested for VHL which came back negative after he was diagnosed with renal cancer. Is there any other genetic disorder that could cause this. Our family is feeling desperate right now any insight or information would be helpful. Thank you for your time.

Hi I am so sorry that your having to deal with all this and having no idea what's causing it, there are a few things that could be the reason especially as you have said he also has arthritis, how are his blood tests coming back?? You could check

Gaucher disease, it fits the criteria for his symptoms, not guaranteed I know but its where I would start, rule things out one by one
