    Hi Alex,

    Yes they do give you cold like Symptoms, i have been on 20mg for 8wks now and i got the cold like symptoms about 2wks in. it comes and goes, mainly at night. Also get a dry mouth and runny nose some days. Due to my anxiety being high i worry i have Covid but no one comes in my house nor have i been out in 4weeks so i know it's not that. But i mentioned it to both my Doctor and my Psychiatrist and though both said its a common side effect, but isn't listed for some reason.

    I hope this helps relieve some worry 😃 x

      If its like a cold flushing feeling then it is more than likely your Anxiety, i get it too and i have had many medical professionals tell me it's my anxiety, Citalopram does make your anxiety worse before it gets better.

      Abit of advice i can give is try not to push yourself too much, and try not to drink too much caffeine, i was actually surprised when i lowered caffeine in take i found my flushes weren't so bad, strange i know but it works! and also find time for yourself, try not to worry too much about the side effects,. i know they are not fun, i have/had nearly every one of the most common ones, they have no started to get alot better and leas noticeable though. But i honestly recommend to try and stay relaxed.

      I understand your worry on the Covid, i would be scared too, but i hope your results will be negative and then you can relax a little more.

      please feel free to ask me any questions, I'm no professional but I do have most recent experience it so hopefully i can ease your worries a little.

    Hey. This is the exact same as me. I had covid in March really bad and my chest was horrendous. I've just upped to 20mg and my chest is so tight, sore and I'm out of breath a lot plus sore throat and dry mouth. my anxiety has come back really bad after the increase and I had that under control previously. I've been so scared its seems I've had every side effect. I was on 10mg for 9 days then I've been taking 20mg for thr last 5 nights. I'm hoping I'll start to improve soon I'm finding it really tough. I've just switched to morning taking it as I wasnt sleeping at all. reading these things is helping me and knowing it's short term and normal is helpful but I just want to feel ok again.

    @alex16082

    it is normal from what i can tell, i had a dry mouth and sore throat for the first few weeks. And also your anxiety will try to make you believe your more ill than you are for awhile, mine is only just starting to become tolerable, to the point i can blank it out almost. it's not fun.

    @natalie71109 when you go up on a dose it does give side effects again so you may find your anxiety levels are a little more higher for a week or so, but it shouldn't last as long or as bad from when you first started taking them. i hope you feel much better soon, hold on in there, it will get better x
