Hi Everyone,

First time posting on here. Looking for some reassurance. Ready to give up 😦. I have been on citalopram for nearly 5 weeks and feeling rubbish. crying spells and high anxiety. This week my sleep seems to have been affected. im so restless and wake up in puddles of sweat. is this normal? Doctor has given me quetiapine but im too scared to introduce a new drug. Does this mean citalopram is not for me? should I just accept ill be unhappy and anxious forever?

Hi zoe. I start my 8th week tomorrow on 10mg and week 5/6 were horrendous i really thought id gone back to square one! This medication starting to affect my sleep around that time too but i know i am getting slightly better as the symptoms are fading less and less - the only side effect im getting really is morning anxiety (which ive read on here is slightly common) and the odd dizzy spell whereas when i started i had bad dizziness everyday! X

    Hi Zoe

On different discussions, i have read that antidepressants are a slow process, not the quick fix us suffering would hope for.

I would say continue has 5 weeks is so early.

I am on week 13 & having a blip too...but we'm on the right track to recovery.

    1 day at a time 😃

My sleep is affected too where i am having dreams every night...Some nice but some not so nice. I dont get the sweating but i do get headaches on the one side & often nausea, so we all experience different side effects.

    Take care

    Kym

The first 4-6 weeks are horrendously tough but things will improve so try and hang in there, it will be worth it. I used to get jaw ache and would grind my teeth, sickness, dizziness and broken sleep. I'm almost through the other side, side effects have more or less all settled. I was ready to give up too but I'm glad I didn't. You'll get there too in time, keep going, good luck x
