Hi
First time on here. Need some help as struggling with this med! Was on another antidressant for 1 week and then changed to citalopram 20mg 2 weeks ago and still feel bad. My anxiety is 100 % worse, nausea comes and goes and bad sleep. Will this get better as thinking in I may come off them?

Please let your physician know these symptoms. Maybe they will want to make some changes. It's best to tell them.

If it gets too serious, please do not hesitate to call them. Maybe there is something they could do for you. I'm coming off this med after being on it for many years. It served me well; but I'm older. It was affecting my sodium levels; so I needed to either cut back or go off it completely. I'm down to 10 mg daily.

I was on antidepressants for years, and was also changed to these meds. Within 6 months I'd recovered.
Yes you will feel worse to start with - go with it and anything weird that crops up. It gets easier. Don't expect a quick recovery, it can take months, but just go with it. You might find you'll be up and down, some days feeling like you've recovered and other days like you're back at the beginning. Its normal - its just your body adjusting.

I recovered many years ago but if I recall it was about 3-4 weeks when the side effects started to ease a little and I started noticing little changes in symptoms around 3-4 months. I didn't know I was recovering as had nobody to compare this meds with (internet wasn't even around then).
We all want this relief immediately but the symptoms won't suddenly stop and they won't all ease together. Usually tiny changes start happening and its hard to see ...... but even though you won't see this the meds are working in the background.
Don't base your recovery time on others as we're all so different. Some people take much less time and some longer. Don't try and force recovery as it'll happen for you in its own time (you can't make it happen any quicker anyway). However hard it feels, try and accept that you will feel rough for a while yet but perseverance and patience will bring relief eventually.
Yep - all you descibe are typical. It does get easier. All the symptoms you feel are all part of anxiety so try not to analyse each one. Once the anxiety starts to ease so will all the symptoms too.
