Hi,

I've been on 20mg if citalopram for 4 weeks today. I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on my symptoms and tell me if it's due to the citalopram

Yawning

Itching

the odd night sweats

Blurred vision when trying to focus (reading mainly)

I have a review appointment wI think my gp next week.

Thanks,

Yes those are all normal side effects. I kept a journal of how i felt through out the day to see how things were changing for me. Now everyone is different but i started seeing a change on the 15th day. I didnt have much of the yawning only a couple days vut it will all subside. I was scared to death to get on medication but i knew i had to try something since i had been dealing with my ocd (pure O), anxiety and ptsd for 9 years without medication. I jusr went from 10mg to 20mg last night and nercous about that as well. The most side effects i had was spacey feeling upon waking up which is the worst for me. Please continue to let the medicine work it can take up to 2 months for the full affect.

Did anyone de as l with loose bowels, anger, crying, fatigue iin first wks? Im on Klonapine (anti-anxiety) an take half of a 0.5mg as necessary but its been necessary here lately! TONS of stress. No exercise. To cold here in N. Tx, USA. 10 deg an -1 windchill an snow. So Im goin nuts not exercising. Planning on joining Planet Fitness 10$ a month. Iv got to chg circumstances in my life. See my prob is I worry myself to point of severe anxiety an then blow up yellin an screamin. Worrying my parents to live!? Thats nuts. I cant control when they die! Iv always been that way with them. My Mom is my best friend (81). Im 48. Started menopause at 46. Totally caught me off guard. Never had female prob at all. Im adopted an no med history at all. Maybe thats why Im so attached to them. Im married with 2 teen boys. Now parents having ALOT of health probs an need care. Iv been their caregiver the last 4 an half yrs. Now they are just now in a retirementhome an theres more stress. Still have to sale house an make sure they have money. Im POA. Sister (older) doesnt help or understand what stresses I have. 2 families to care for. An our finances are not good.So trying to calm myself an quit worrying that everything isnt done perfectly. Im so tired an my health is paying the price. Keeping toxic people out of my life or at bay is another thing. Finding a hobby besides caregiving! Anyway sorry to go on. Just wondering what first side effects anyone had.

      Thankyou

Sorry just getting back to you. I started 10 mg about a month and a half ago just got my dose increased to 20mg two days ago. My side effects were yawning only a couple days, tired, felt like i didnt want to do anything for days but had to force myself to go to work and get up moving around because all i would do was think about how i was feeling everyday i woke up. I did wake up anxious most of my days but it stated to get better. I am also taking xanax 2x a day at .5 mg which helps subside the spacey feeling i get which in actuality is the only thing i cant stand. I try not to fight my anxiety or thoughts and just let it happen but it is so scary at times its hard. I have been dealing with my anxiety for 15 years now and I am 30. I just tell myself i have done it before and ill get through this. It is very hard and dicouraging at times. Hope you start feeling better soon dont give up and give it time to work !!

Yep, they are a few, but won't mention the possibility of any more because, you may not get them and we don't want anyone over thinking or worrying for no reason!

    Welcome to The Club!

It will get better eventually, you just have to accept and put up for as long as it takes.  I guarentee it IS WORTH IT!

They all sound very familiar except the blurred vision , I also had the shakes & loss of appetite & unsettled stomach but it was all worth it in the end.
