how would you describe it, just like the "you" before the meds was gone? like your personality disintegrated? like you were abit of an empty shell?

how long were you on citalopram and what mg?

sometimes having anxiety or depression or both to the point where you need to take medication changes you. experiencing some big life change also changes you.

the thing is that when it comes to medication such as ssri that works on your brain it can be very psychological. people unconsciously can feel like they are changed just because they are taking the medication that alters brains chemicals.

I wouldn't necessarily blame the medication for feeling that way. however anything above 20mg can make you feel a bit loopy at times.

in my case the medication helped me to get rid of my anxiety in turn making me more calm. medication cant change you personality just effect certain aspects of it.

I never had depression or anxiety before medication, if you look on my profile and my discussions you'll find my whole story, but I was originally put on sertraline by a downright stupid doctor when I went complaining of not being able to sleep much, I was perfectly happy and confident etc, 3 days after taking sertraline i was thrown into anxiety and deep deep depression, I've been on mirtazepine and citalopram since and I've never been back to my normal self properly... I've been to the point of thinking my partner and daughter would be better off without me, I've been off work for 6 months, I cant be a proper mum to my daughter... I'm just ahiyt functioning atm... all caused by antidepressants

It's good to know I''m not the only one. Been taking anti depressant fir intrusive thoughts from zopiclone withdrawal for 6 months. Did briefly try sertraline which also gave me OCD type symptoms. Both that and citalopram made me feel whole lot worse than when I started. Now slowly weaning off citalopram did have couple days very slight improvement but didn't last. Hoping it was a window . I have felt like you at times that my husband be better off without me, he gets upset when I say it which then makes me feel guilty. I never had depression before just the thoughts you aren't alone. Very hard as they do seem help lot people.
