Citalopram 40mg- HELP?

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hey guys,

I'm on citalopram 40mg and have been for about a year but at the end of last year I forgot to take them for about a week, I'm finding they aren't working any more, I'm on day 19 and I'm an absolute wreck, SO anxious, racing thoughts, rumination, feeling so hopeless.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

I know that this is all my fault for forgetting them over the XMAS period.

many people have gone through the exact same thing. I know it feels awful. Your best bet would be to talk to the Doctor Who prescribed it and see what to do. If you don’t feel like they’re working, maybe the doctor can make some changes. or you could continue with it until it really kicks back in again.

For the increased anxiety, it’s important to relax your mind as much as possible. Do some breathing exercises specific for anxiety. You can find them on YouTube. You can also find relaxing meditations on there for anxiety and overthinking. Another thing that lowers anxiety is any form of exercise. Even walking. Some people will splash cold water on their face, because this activates the parasympathetic system, which is the opposite of the sympathetic system, which is related to anxiety and fight or flight.

of course those are temporary measures so that’s why it’s a good idea to talk to your doctor. Hope you feel better soon.! Breathe Long and slow and calm everything down. Do it as much as you need
