What about propranolol to manage the physical symptoms? This helped me so much x

You know, I've seen so many people on this site who struggle on 40mg which is the maximum dose - they end up with constant side effects, anxiety, depression etc and often a decrease in their dose sorts this out. Adding in another medicine might just add to this? It might be worth adjusting your dose a tiny bit slowly to see if it helps first. Lots of people settle on 30mg or 20mg.

Less is more (as the saying goes) πŸ˜‰

Hi Kate. Thank you again for helping me so much. I see you are still helping and thats awesome. I always try stress that more is not better with these meds. Docs are too fast to suggest dosage increases. I don't think they have a clue how these things work.

I hope you are doing well. You're an inspiration to so many who need help. Is there some type of award we can give you?

      Thx again

      Hi dubry

Yes I always say aim for as low a dose as you can, try it for months and months before increasing - why take more than you need?

Very true - doctors are too quick at getting their patients to increase but how do you know 10mg or 20mg will suit you if you don't try them first? No sadly I don't think some doctors understand these meds - yes they're obviously professional in what they do, able to prescribe - but have they ever taken them? A completely different story to just reading from a text book. They aren't like any other meds.

Its more about what dose suits your body.

Thanks I'm doing really well - hope you're doing ok too. Tee-hee an award? 🀣

      Hi Lauren

Yes have a chat with your doctor - though he might not think less is better. When I was on Citalopram I recovered on 20mg and never took anything higher - so you're taking double that amount xxx

If you do try less try 30mg first - your doctor should go along with what you want anyway.

But its always trial and error getting the dose right - but you'll find a dose that suits you.

      K x

      Hello Katecogs

I've read many of your posts, you should write a book, I'd buy it.

I have been on Citalopram.for 5 months after starting on 10, 20 then my psychiatrist upped it to 30. Mentally I am much better as my depression and anxiety was really bad I was off work for 3 months. I still get alot of physical effects muscle pain, twitching, lethargy and floaters in my eyes plus swallowing issues whi h have improved and but I still find it uncomfortable. I do sometimes feel that the physical effects are due to the medication but really do not know when to reduce to 20mg and am scared to.
