hi Liam the reason the headaches have increased is more than likely a sideffect due to the higher dose you're taking. I've been on 20 mg for 6 months now and I feel more like my old self again. At the start it was difficult but I'm glad I stuck it out. Give it 3 weeks and you will notice the benifits. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for reply. I'm just trying my hardest to ride it out. I got a one year old daughter who needs me so I don't want to be someone that kills myself cause think I'm losing my mind.

    HI Liam,

in answer to your question yes the side effects will go away and you will be feeling better soon .

I was on citalopram for a long time just on 10 mg and then this summer was feeling really awful for about 3 1/2 months . my doctor upped me to 20 mg and I had all the same side effects again , headaches increased anxiety shakiness nausea not wanting to eat . it’s taking me about 13 weeks and finally my anxiety is completely gone . all of my side effects are gone to . I kept waiting and waiting and had lorazepam as a back up for the days that I needed it . it definitely was a gradual thing although at the time it was hard to recognize it but every day or every couple days it just got a little bit better and then one day I woke up and boom it was gone . The worst for me was the morning anxiety so that was the last to go I just ready getting out of bed felt shaky depressed scared everything . so hang in there it might take a couple weeks but it’s going to work !

      Hi carolyn

Thanks for your reply yeah my morning anxiety been really bad again also. I started going to the gym 3 weeks ago 3 times a week I've lost over a stone dieting but excersie doesn't seem to help like the doctors say excersie helps but doesn't help me. i was ok last week and week before but after the weekend I've been getting the head ache again so upped to 20mg.

Hi Liam, I suffered alot with headaches on these, always brought on by dose changes or missing a dose, they improved once I settled on them. Try drinking more fluids as anti depressants can affect the fluid in our bodies, and lack of fluid can bring on headaches, which can be worse after exercise. I also made sure I ate certain foods to help blood sugar levels when my head started up.
